Did anybody see the AP story on Wednesday, January 22, about the discovery of a fossil now named: Microraptor gui?
I'm sure we'll need to wait for more peer input on this, but it is interesting.
BTW, in addition to my earlier suggestions that penguins, polar bears, and the platypus could perhaps be considered living transitional species (which no one addressed...oops!), I'd like to add the alligator gar. It has a "lung" and can breath air if water conditions are under-oxygenated. (Also, it is the best physical fit for the leviation of Job that I can think of, except of course for that little part about breathing fire, etc. And it is of North American extraction...)
