I really wasn't shooting to turn this into a health care topic. Probably shouldn't have even mentioned such.
My point is, politicians and especially the so called fiscal conservatives decry wasteful government spending. Such would include government paid health insurance, welfare payments, pork barrel projects.
But the mighty “Defense” is a sacred cow. Even thought it actually is or functions as an insurance program, a welfare/employment program, and a method of “spreading the pork”.
