This touches on two interesting points having to do with "why" they are trying to do some science.
First, society has told the ID folk that their arguments have not been scientific and, thus, not qualified for Science Curricula. Not just courts, either, but the voters in Kansas, Pennsylvania and Texas have thrown out the ID'ers from school boards and Textbook Review (who seem to keep coming back and need to be thrown out time and time again.) So they see the need to clothe their religious myths in some veneer that may smell of "science" to those with stuffed-up heads. The problem is that every time they try to dress up ID with "science" the dressing falls off and they get their intellectual teeth kicked in. So now they want to find some "real" science to support their myths.
The second point is that, I suspect, most ID'ers of any intellect at all understand that real science is the superior philosophy and the only way they can justify any of there positions is to put them on a sound scientific basis.
Even though the ID'ers don’t, the rest of us know this is impossible. So whatever they come up with will have errors of logic and they again will get their intellectual teeth kicked in.
Or, maybe, just maybe, they will finally understand there is no way any kind of "real" science can support their myths, will in fact negate any efficacy of their myths, and they will slink back to their revival tents where they belong.
I'm kidding myself with that last point aren't I.
