Dan Carroll writes: My hypothesis: getting killed by soldiers hurts. Yours: no it doesn't. You have completely (and conveniently) left God out of my hypothesis. I suggested that God could have caused them to feel nothing. Once again, my hypothesis is consistent with what the Bible tells us about God and your hypothesis is consistent with your distorted views of God.

Berberry writes: You're reducing the holy spirit to a secret decoder ring. Why do we need a secret decoder ring in order to read the damn bible? Please consider that if God actually exists according to the Bible, he has stated that sin will harden your heart. Sin causes the things of God to seem as foolishness (to the wicked). Turn from your sin, seek God, and then see if your discernment is not consistent with mine.

You have completely (and conveniently) left God out of my hypothesis. I suggested that God could have caused them to feel nothing. Which sure seems like the long way around the barn, doesn't it? Why specifically order the soldiers to kill them, and then cast a miracle to save them? (A miracle which is mysteriously not mentioned in the Bible... God needs a better PR man.) Why not just, oh, not order the soldiers to kill them? Say something like, "Kill all those guys, but leave the babies alone. They didn't do anything."
Once again, my hypothesis is consistent with what the Bible tells us about God and your hypothesis is consistent with your distorted views of God. Once again, how do you figure? The Bible pretty clearly tells us that God ordered the death of babies. I'm just pointing that out. You're adding on to the Bible, pulling unmentioned miracles out of your ass and attributing them to God. Doesn't the Bible have a thing or two to say about speaking on God's behalf?

Have you ever experienced love? Have you considered the Universe and all of the "creation"? Have you ever had a sense of right and wrong without specifically reading it in the bible?

God didn't save them from physical death. No, he certainly didn't. And once again... my hypothesis, as you call it, is that physical death hurts. You left out the rest of my post. What is God's stance on making shit up, and attributing it to him? Is he for it or against it?

Berberry writes: Yes, and the heart pumps blood. Hardening of the heart can kill you. When you read a book (like the bible, for instance), you are using your mind, not your heart. The hardening of the heart, as described in the bible, is a gradual process whereby a person allows sin in their lives to rule and the person grows callous toward God. When you approach the things of God with a "hardened heart" it doesn't make sense to you. You are viewing/reading/interpreting the Bible through the bias of all that Satan has accomplished in you. If you are not living for God (giving place to the Spirit), you are living for the flesh, which is just where Satan likes to have us.

No one has ever told you about God? Am I the first person to tell you that God is good, just, and holy?
People have told me about Santa Claus and the Easter bunny too. So what.
Have you ever experienced love? Yep! But no god or bible was involved.
Have you considered the Universe and all of the "creation"? Yep! It's a big and wonderous place. Still no god or bible needed.
Have you ever had a sense of right and wrong without specifically reading it in the bible? Yep! The golden rule, play nice. Works in the rest of the animal kingdom also. No god or bible needed.

What do you live for? Do you realize how demeaning this question is? Like only christians have any reason to live. Actually since christians all believe in eternal life, they should just all hurry up and die and go to their "just reward". I personally live for life. Life can be wonderful just existing. I love to experience what the world has to offer. Be it kittens, cats , puppies, and dogs. Watching the dolphins swim and dance in the Indian River. Taking in a good book or movie. Hanging out with friends or family. The list goes on and on. Why is my life not worth living if I don't believe in some invisible sky pixie and some ancient both of tall tales. Why don't you get a life and stop blind folding yourself with some holy book. Unchain your mind from the mysticism and live in the real world. Just in case you didn't realize it. People existed before the bible did and people knew what it took to get along. Just because some bible verse captured a truism now and then doesn't make the book in its entirety worth the paper its printed on!
