I've been watching the republican debates. It's actually pretty obvious if you think about it. The republican party has no viable candidate against Obama.
Bachmann is a joke. If she wins the primary, she will have no chance in hell against Obama in formal debates.
Cain is facing several sexual harassment charges and will probably drop out soon. Just his affair should kill his campaign in the near future.
Yeah, the conservatives will rally behind someone like Gingrich who has 3 divorces and several extramarital affairs in his resume. And yes, that last sentence was sarcasm.
Romney's flip-flopping has caught up with his campaign. Even if he makes it as far as winning the primary, Obama will school him.
There are 3 reasons why Rick Perry isn't a viable candidate. (1) He tends to stumble in speeches and often times has trouble formulating his words (and I think people are not going to vote for another GWB), (2) he's too far to the right for most conservatives out there (SS is a ponzi scheme, global warming is a hoax, etc.), and (3) ............ um...... I can't remember 3 right now.
Ron Paul - Yeah, like they will ever vote for Ron Paul.
Everyone else is a nobody.

I sure hope you are correct in saying that they don't have chances against Obama... Could you imagine a GWB presidency in the TeaParty era?

Don't take my word for it. Just watch the debates yourself. The only 2 people who can stand up to Obama face to face are Gingrich and Ron Paul. I honestly can't see a party that voted GWB into office (you know, the same guy who very vocally supported criminalizing homosexuality in Texas when he was governor) would vote for a guy that has had several extramarital affairs and has been through several marriages and divorces. I also can't see the conservative base voting for Ron Paul, the one republican that I actually like.

What's to like about him? He's a racist pro-life creationist meddler just like the others. Oh, I get it - you were fooled by his "small government" rhetoric. Except that "small government" means exactly the same thing to Ron Paul that it means to all the others - a government just small enough to redistribute money from the poor to the rich and snoop on your bedroom activities.
He's like Pat Buchanan with more money. Great, he wants you to be able to smoke legal pot. Boy, it's too bad that in all this time he's never held some kind of public office where he could pursue that as a policy agenda, right? Oh, wait.
He's a fraud. Somehow he's managed to fool people into thinking he's something besides what he is - a white, male Republican from the South.

I know. I like him because at least he's honest and upfront about what he's like. Look at all the other candidates. They are either flip floppers or they try to pull the god card.
When Ron Paul says he doesn't believe in evolution, I really do believe he doesn't believe in evolution.
Now, don't misunderstand that I would actually want him to be anything other than a figurehead. I'm just saying given the only choice between him and any of the other rep candidates, I'd hesitantly choose him.

And here's Ron Paul pulling the God card. Sure, at least he's relatively consistent in his views over time, except in so far you would expect his stated positions to be reflected in his legislating. So he's managed to rise to the standard set by Michelle Bachmann. Like I say, I'm just not seeing the appeal or what separates Ron Paul from the rest. He's just another cookie-cutter white Southern Republican.

Perhaps I should have been more clear. Out of all the candidates Ronny is the only one that doesn't mention god and make sure the world knows he thinks evolution and climate change are hoaxes by scientists. Sure when he gets asked he will tell people that. But he doesn't spout that nonsense in every other sentence. The other candidates use every opportunity to tell the world science sux god rules. This makes them look fake.

Except, I guess, for when he's mentioning God and making sure the world knows he thinks evolution and climate change are hoaxes by scientists?

So, Herman Cain has "suspended" his campaign, and has said that he will endorse someone else "soon".
So if he's quit, why is he only "suspending" his campaign? Because that way he can still raise funds to run even though he's not running ... funds which he can then use to buy copies of his book from himself (see supra).

He doesn't actually say it nearly as much as the other candidates. Do you watch the debates? The other guys are shameless at bringing up the word god and proclaim how evolution and climate change are hoaxes by scientists. Ron Paul doesn't just bring them up for no reason. He only brings them up when he is asked about them.
Let me ask you this. Who is your least hated candidate among the republicans?

Where is buzsaw when one of my prophecies came true? I've been telling people for years. I have the gift of foresight! Yesterday, I said Cain was going to quit soon. Sure enough, today he made his announcement. How much more proof do you need that I'm a true prophet?

The title of this article says it all.
But wait, there's more!
quote:
I believe these words came from the Pokemon movie, Cain said. Life can be a challenge. Life can seem impossible. It’s never easy when there’s so much on the line. But you and I can make a difference. There’s a mission just for you and me.

He continued: Just look inside and you will find just what you can do.
In previous speeches, Cain has attributed the quotation to a poet.

Truly, anyone can run for President. Even if you quote Pokemon movies and don't know that China has nuclear weapons and your life's accomplishment involves bad pizza..
As long as you have lots and lots and lots of money.
And as long as we didn't find out recently that you're a womanizer who cheats on his wife. Doesn't matter if it's true or not, really, just how long it's been. If we found out a decade or two ago, you're fine.

The human understanding when it has once adopted an opinion (either as being the received opinion or as being agreeable to itself) draws all things else to support and agree with it.
- Francis Bacon
"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs." - John Rogers

Who is your least hated candidate among the republicans?
Jon Huntsman. In contrast to the walking facade that is Ron Paul, I think Jon Huntsman really is a guy who thinks its more important to govern well than to govern from principle. He's Obama-like in that respect. (Not that Huntsman hasn't had his own shameful moments of pandering.) I would say that all of the rest, including Ron Paul, are a bit too plagued by ideology-itis.
Of course, like Ron Paul he'll never win the nomination. The problem with the Republican party is the Republican base.

Like I said before, the republican party at the moment has no viable candidates. It's been taken over by the ultra religious conservatives. So, anyone who even hints on leaning towards a moderate position gets kicked out of the campaign right away. The rest are too crazy for anyone else to like.
That said, between Gingrich and Romney, who would you vote for? I've been thinking about this as well. I'd vote for Gingrich. He at least is more sincere than Romney.
