New Topics Pending and Side Issues
Looks like we have 3 new topics pending ...
the one on fundamentalist recovery looks good (albeit a bit wordy? not bad for setting out the whole case though) ...
One of the things I see as being problematical is where you have a spin-off topic (ie - the improbable probability problem) that could be a hot button issue that keeps going in the original thread if it doesn't get into the works fairly quickly (not that I expect mine to do so).
What about a {Discuss Side Issue} button that can spin off a current thread and keep the discussion going by posting to the {free-for-all} area?
Could that be linked as a reply even though it goes to a different forum? To do that I would think the {DSI} function would have to be another button at the bottom of each message ...
If such side issues "grow legs" then they could be moved by Admin to appropriate forums?
just some thoughts.

Re: Getting to the right 'start a new topic' location
It'll work, the kinks may take a while to iron out.

I was wondering about the same thing. Since a new restriction is being placed on us may we ask for a slight loosening of the rule about going off-topic?
Would it be permissible to allow a discussion to go off-topic whenever a subtitle beginning with "OFF-TOPIC:" (or perhaps simply "OFT:") is used. Such a subtitle could be a flag for an admin to take a peek. If the admin thinks the subtopic is worthy, he or she could create a new thread for it using that portion of the subtitle that follows "OFT:".

New threads not appearing in a posters list of threads

Perhaps the bright point is, if the new system doesn't fly, the old system can be back in place in about 5 minutes work.
And with this safety net in place, let's carry on. IT seems like it is going to work.
One curiosity I noticed. I started a new thread, and it got moved to a forum; but then the new thread does not appear in my list of posts.
When you click my name, you can see a list of my posts in various forums. You can see the closed copy of the dinosaurs and gravity thread in proposed new topics; but not the new copy in the miscellaneous forum.

Re: New threads not appearing in a posters list of threads
I went to the control area, and ran the "Update Member Message Lists", but that didn't seem to change anything. Dont' off-hand have any documentation on this, so don't know what to say.
Have another idea to try.

I actually like these new rules. Regarding "the grammar, spelling, and formatting must be tolerable" part, I think we should impose this on reponses to the original post as well. It is horrible for me to have to decipher certain replies that have run-ons and no clear cut paragraphs.

I don't like this Format... I mean I know alot of Useless topics are made But this is to slow I am going to stick to the vistors section for now ... Most of us are here to debate when we are on not later when you feel like posting our topic... I am sure there are other boards like this .... I am sorry to say but I am going to have to find one.... sigh
