Des,
I hope you take this restriction in the manner in which it is meant.
You are not coming across very well on this forum and this is meant solely as a way to help you benefit from your time here. I don't believe this is the way you truly want to witness for your faith when even the Christian and creationist camp are not backing you.
What I am going to suggest to you is that for now, you limit your postings to
A Little Rant for Desdamona in the FFA
Big Bang Problem in Big Bang and Cosmology
A Fatal Logical Flaw in Creationism in ID
You currently aren't in any active F&B threads, though I wouldn't be against giving you one outlet there also.
This is subject to change according to your acceptance of forum etiquette and Forum Guidelines.
1. Des must show that she is capable of following a topic of conversation. I realize that we are all guilty of going off topic on occasion, and I have no problem with that, but Des has a heavy history of not being able to follow the topic. She hasn't been here long enough to have accumulated such a history except by design. I ask all participants to help by not responding to off topic posts.
2. Des must totally understand the concept of citing sources and supporting claims. She needs to learn what a primary source is, what hearsay means and the difference between a claim and a belief.
3. Des needs to learn to write in a manner that does not leave her opponents shuddering when they think that she is home-school teacher.
Sylas's excellent post Style Guide for EvC should be one of the first pinned topics when that option becomes available to us.
Believe me when I tell you that no one here wants to make you leave your faith. No one here is even that concerned that you accept evolution. One of the main purposes of this forum is to instruct others on what evolution is, what science is and how it is done.
We don't ask that you accept evolution, but that you at least understand it. Most people here find it totally incomprehensible that someone can be so totally against a concept that they have absolutely no understanding of.
Most of this post is copied from an reply I made here:
http://EvC Forum: A little rant for desdamona
Any suggestions, complaints or questions can be addressed to me here.
edited to add: Des I would appreciate a note to let me know you have read and understand this post. thanks

Thanks
Thanks Asgara,I understand that you are trying to be patient.Yes,I read everything.
I have purchased books on the subjects even.I'm still reading the information.Anyone can be a home school teacher. In New Mexico, all you need is a High School Education.I have not memorized everything I learned in school, most of the school lessons did not give us a long lesson on some of the subjects like DNA,ect...
In fact we had very little information on it in My Nurse Assistant training.
I realize my message board style is off,and people don't like my views or what I believe is evidence.
I think I need alot of courses and lessons in these area's.I don't know how to change very quickly, but I feel I have tried.
I am going to study these issues even if I'm not accepted here.
I do believe that I should learn all I can about these subjects.
Thanks for allowing me to be here as long as you have.It was not for nothing, though it may give that impression,I really have learned alot. It's taking some time to express that, and understanding it and remembering what you learn takes some time.
If I'm not accepted here,I understand. Please let me know if You feel I should leave.I do appreciate your patience with me,and all that I did learn.I just haven't learned how to express it better yet,but it got me on the right track being here for a while. That should go along way in my understanding thses kinds of debates in which I had no real prior experience until now.
Please let me know if it's best that I should go,o.k?
I have no hard feelings towards anyone here,It's been very interesting.
Blessings.

Re: Thanks
I have no problem at all with you staying and continuing to post here. Don't feel rejected if others post in disagreement to this. This is a debate board, we'll argue anything
I guess that over and above the style issues, I really want to get across that understanding what science says and what the Theory of Evolution says does not mean you have to believe it. There is just no way that anyone can have a legimate, informed opinion on something that they know nothing about.

Re: Thanks
Desdemona, I hope that you stay around. Whatever the shortcomings of your posts may be, they are not by any means even close to the worst that have appeared here.
That said, I do think that some people have offered some constructive criticisms on your writing style. I think that your writing and debate style will improve if you those suggestions in the spirit in which they were intended.

For what it is worth, I agree with Asgara. You are welcome to stay as long as you like. Do think about the suggestions, however. They will help.
Recognize that you will get robust disagreement with your claims. The strongest disagreements will have nothing to do with your faith at all; they will be responses to trivial errors in scientific matters. That's the primary purpose of this discussion forum.
Cheers -- Sylas

Re: Thanks
Sylas,"Thankyou",I understand there will be disagreements. It's a matter of time until I get all this information down good.
A hardy debate is o.k. with me too,and I'm learning about trying to seperate my emotions from this, because we are going to disagree on some points, and I don't want my emotions getting in the way of good learning, and understanding, and possibly good debating friends.
Be blessed greatly,

Desdamona

Desdamona, you can consider me the bad guy or your nemesis. Either way, I would like to quote something that I think you should read again and memorize word for word.

If you want to keep in your memory something from these boards, remember this single sentence by AdminAsgara. I don't care if you forget everything else that we have discussed, just remember this one sentence.

Re: Thanks
Yes,that is correct, and while I am learning more,I state only what I feel that I have learned.I also state very often that I am learning.I cannot answer questions accurately on what I have not learned, but I do not understand why you ask things that you already know I haven't learned yet? Is that proving intelligence?

Re: Thanks
P.S. no,I don't really think you are a bad guy.I think you are highly opinionated and a philosopher.I am not a philosopher, although I do admire their pretty words and some of their ideas based on opinions. If I state something that I thought I knew, but my information was wrong, then I stand corrected, but if it's not wrong, only another person and their teachers interpretation of it,then that does not make it wrong. You being a philosopher should know that.

Re: Thanks
Des,
It seems that you understand that we still want you to post. Somehow this site has "evolved" into a more formal debate forum. There is still room for some joking and random thoughts, but for the most part we like a structured and logical argument. The best part is that we have a wide array of nationalities, philosophical positions, world views, and religions all represented at a single site. These two attributes, formal debate and diversity, seduced me into posting on this site. Hopefully you will catch the same bug as well.
I really can't help out a whole lot when it comes to recommending reading material. To tell the truth, I really can't remember where I learned the numerous things I know within biology. It has all kind of smeared together. My only suggestion is to find sites on the internet that can give you rudimentary understanding of biological systems (like organs, nervous system, etc) and genetics. Genetics is a very fascinating and powerful field within biology, and really ties together pieces of the evolutionary picture. How about this, I will give you one homework assignment. Within genetics, can you define the "Central Dogma"? Just to make it easier, it can be summed up with three words.

don't give up
Des,
Don't give up. I'm convinced that rejecting you will give a bad example of tolerance. As wrote previously, I notice some positive changements. Please forgot your hammer for a while and join constructive debates.
Also and following other members of this board, I insist on the point that I won't attempt to make loosing your faith. This is important that it's really clear for you concerning this detail.
Have a nice day,
Denesha

Re: don't give up
Dear Denesha, you are a sweet heart. I love that about you all, that you don't want me to reject my faith, and I must allow others the room to have theirs too.
You will all teach the people who come here if they realize this, who are christians. I believe everyone should go beyond their basic High School Education, or the little time they were in College, and explore Science, Geology, Biology (they don't do that enough with CNA training), Genetics, ect....they need to be studied more, much more.
The Solar system is also more than what the teachers teach in regular school. I believe College level books can be purchased at the College book stores here, but I haven't been there yet. My Son chose the Air Force instead of College. He just graduated basic training. We went to San Antonio,Texas and had a great time there.
I agree that these subjects are much more interesting than they look. I have been doing Geneaology for a few years now,and genetics is very interesting.
When the christians understand that no one is calling them stupid for believing in God,then they will be more understanding about all of these things. Those like me, who have had actual real experiences, really need to understand that. That will go along way in helping those who didn't like science and all these other subjects, although many, many christians do.
