Day: Sleep
Night: Front Desk clerk at a less-than-quality Inn
As you can imagine, there's not much to do at night. Hopefully I can go back and finish my degree; I started an English degree but I'll probably go back for journalism, though I was kicking around the idea of Biology, too. Maybe both?

I'll be either working in a grocery store or doing heavy labor in a warehouse this summer. I think I'll do the heavy labor to buff up a bit and look a little less like a nerd.

Re: Time for a bump (with added content)
hmmm
Is enthusiasm good or bad ... having read the whole thread, I can't be sure.
Tis like the crows in Pogo "of all the revolutionaries I have know you are the most revolting" eh?
I am aware of the "pile-up" problem and have forgone making some comments because of it. I like to check other responses and see if my points are already covered.
Having participated on another board for over a year that is not moderated and which has the same tendencies, and I see little difference in proportions of posters. I put this down to the population with access to computers has a smaller minority of "vocal creationists" compared to "vocal evolutionists" within a population that is largely indifferent (sadly). The ratio appears to be between 1 to 5 and 1 to 10 imho.
People like Des (and kofh) are a different matter, limited in education, limited in experience and trying desperately to make it a 1:1 fit with their faith and reality. These are the ones caught in Dawkin's last category in his essay "Ignorance is no Crime"
... which can be more sympathetically characterized by a word like tormented, bullied, or brainwashed. Sincere people who are not ignorant, not stupid, and not wicked can be cruelly torn, almost in two, between the massive evidence of science on the one hand, and their understanding of what their holy book tells them on the other.
There are 4 responses I have seen from such tormented people: (1) accepting that they might be wrong (very rare), (2) lashing out in anger (common, particularly in first encounters), (3) declaring the conflicting evidence to be lies (most common), and finally (4) ignoring the evidence and the posters (usually after declaring victory). It is not a response of choice, but one of reaction, partly driven by the psychological need for cognitive consonance mixed with ego ("I'm right").
To me the value of moderation on these boards is to keep the discussions on topic and reduce the ad hominum attacks and trolling. When moderation interferes with a valid discussion (say by restricting start of a 'new' topic that is a branch-off from another topic or even just inspired by another topic) then it becomes cumbersome.
Creationists must feel like they have entered a wrestling match only to find that the opponent is a tag team, but evolution never said that life was fair.
