I want to get this out of the way:

I respect you (though you are wrong), you respect me(though you only think I'm wrong).
You do realize you just showed a great deal of disrespect, yes?
IT WAS NOT MEANT!!! I WAS JOKING AROUND!!
Sorry about the misunderstanding, in the future I will be more carefull to make clear when I am trying to be humorous
Good post, but I can't get to the rest of it right now my dad is kicking me off the computer so he can do work

Evolution can't be disproven, but I think that it has been shown nearly impossible. That is the opinion of many intellegent people (also of some, maybe many, unintellegent people, which is where all the creationist steroetypes come from).
As Rrhain so elegantly pointed out, yes it can be disproven. Every scientific theory can be falsified, otherwise we wouldn't call them scientific theories. Every time a new fossil is found and it is dated, evolution is tested. Being that there are thousands upon thousands of dated fossils, I would say evolution has been tested quite thoroughly. The other big test that evolution passed was genetics. It wasn't until 50 years ago that we even knew of DNA, and since then the assumptions of evolution have been fulfilled. There is no other theory that explains the DNA differences better than evolution, which is why it is accepted among scientists. Because they actually use it.
quote:
If they would have said something like "The vast majority of scientists believe..."
Scientists don't "believe" in the theory of evolution, that is a religious statement. Scientists tentatively accept the theory of evolution because of the evidence and the lack of falsifying evidence. Absence of evidence, as in the case of holes in the fossil record, is not evidence, merely the absence of it. You must show us falsifying evidence, evidence that can't be explained by the theory of evolution.
quote:
What offended me is assertion that evolution has "withstood the test of time and thousands of scientific experiments; nothing has disproved it". That is an attack on creation(ists), albiet infinitely more polite than my response
It should offend you that creationist will not construct a theory to be tested. They constantly waffle from one idea to another, and rely on ad hoc hypotheses that are not supported by ANY data. If anything, you should be offended by the scientific practices of the creationist elite.
Thousands of scientific experiments is a very low estimate, it might be in the millions. How many tests of creationism have their been?

Later
Hey guys,
I'm busy over in the transitionals thread, so I won't be debating here right now (speaking of that, I just posted over there in response to one of your posts, LoudmoutH). I do want to talk about this in the future, but I'm too busy right now. Thanks
{added title}
