Please don't start new topics about SW update issues
Several new topics have been opened about issues (post counts, logins, etc.) related to the software update. This creates a rather tedious situation for those of us who aren't having problems and just want to read the threads we've been following. I think Percy asked everyone to bring their comments and problems regarding the update to this thread. I know I don't have admin power so I can only request that everyone please do as Percy asked.

Please don't start new topics about SW update issues, also bug report
Please see previous message also.
Bug report - I went to my personal topic index page, and clicked on the number of my most recent message in a couple of different topics. Instead of going to that message, I got the last page of the topic (my message was pages back).
Also (added by edit) - Despite my eforts to set my preferences to "Show 60 topics", things remain set to the 45 topic default. Do my "preferences" cover both minnemooseus and Adminnemooseus? My guess is that they do.

Thanks for the bug reports. They're on my list.

What happened to Brad's 'G.P. Gladyshev' thread?
There may be another bug: I've been involved in an exchange with Brad in the above-referenced thread. All of the sudden the thread seems to have disappeared. It isn't showing up in the 'Topic List for All Forums'.

Re: What happened to Brad's 'G.P. Gladyshev' thread?
Now it's back. Something's wierd because it was gone a moment ago. I had checked and re-checked and couldn't find it.

Re: What happened to Brad's 'G.P. Gladyshev' thread?
Now I see what might have happened. As soon as the thread re-appeared I went in and noticed that Brad had added an edit to his last post. Is it possible that while a post is being edited by its author the thread temporarily disappears from the topic list?

Percy is aware of this glitch in the software changes. I would think it is a priority on his bugs to fix.

One strange bug.
If I follow a link in a post to another thread on the forum, it shows me as not logged in in the link thread.

Bug in linking to a post.
I don't know if this is related to the upgrade or not.
I looked at the list of posts for DC85, at the time of writing this post.
There is a link in that page which appears in the html as follows:
Note that the link goes to page 2 of the thread, but article 9, which actually appears on page 1. The correct link should be given as:
Here are actual links to try out:
9 (result 9)
9   (result 9)
Cheers -- Sylas
Added in edit: I'm finding the same problem of bad links to specific posts, where the wrong page is linked, in a number of other contexts. In the edit, I also fixed an error in how I presented the eroneous link.

Finding the first post in a thread
I don't know if this problem has been reported...
Recently redwolf submitted a new thread, at Message 1
After four posts had been added, I checked out the list of posts by redwolf, and there was no link to this thread; and so he had missed out on the fact that the topic was on-line.
It is likely that he will be adding new posts, so the problem may go away as soon as he makes another reply to the thread.
However, if we a problem where the first post in a new thread is not properly linked to the message list of it's author, then that should be fixed. Note that this thread was approved in two steps.
  1. Archive; retaining a copy in the proposals forum.
  2. Move; deleting the copy in the proposals forum.

The profile problem has been fixed. Clicking on the profile button was causing a message that you needed moderator privileges. The button now works properly.
There needs to be one more improvement before directors, administrators and moderators can moderate both their accounts without relogging in. Right now, the profile can only be modified for the account originally logged into. The linked account cannot be modified. You have to instead logout then relogin in to the linked account. I'm working on a fix, it might be done tonight.

On the fix to profile updates.

I tried it now, logging out, and in again as "Sylas". This allowed me to access the "Sylas" profile, but when I tried to update the avatar I got a message reading "Bad user password, possible hack attempt logged."
Don't know if this is redundant given further changes in the pipline, but thought I'd better let you know.
It's a conspiracy. Nobody wants me to get to my barber.

I can't change my avatar. Everytime I try to do that, it keeps saying "possible hack..." something along that line.
