I sometimes wonder if the idea of gambling was frowned upon for the simple reason that it bypasses God. If you pray to God and he answers then your prayer was answered by God. If you pray to God and he does not answer your prayer, then God had a reason to not answer your prayer. But if you figure the odds mathmatically you could have things work in your favor and bypass God. So it stands to reason the Church frowns on gambling. So it all boils down to who benefits from the gambling...as another poster stated Bingo is acceptable but Stud Poker is not. WHY?
