Scientific breakthroughs and subsequent development will happen regardless of religious objections. It is a moot question most likely from a parochial view.

As I said, dealing from a provincial point of view. Those may well be retarded in some nations, but that will not stop development or progress. Those will continue. Only those nations so foolish as to forgo such research will get left behind.
This is no different than what happened in Nuclear Energy.

Please do not discount the need to at least discuss and debate the moral and ethical aspects of technology. It is important that such factors be considered, and unfortunately, even in a religious context they are not, and that decisions be made on a fully informed basis. Each technology should be considered, its costs, risks and potential benefits fully disclosed.
