Why would a time traveller take a computer he would have had to borrow from a museum instead of a modern machine that would weigh a tenth of the older computer and have longer battery life?

They have a time machine at their disposal - maybe they didn't visit a museum but went back to the mid 1990s and obtained a new PC 386 ! ?
Why would they? It'd be more expensive, heavier, and bulkier than something they could get off the shelf at Circuit City.
Time travel can't be so easy and cheap that they'd waste it on as frivolous a trip as getting a computer that sucks. Why would they bother? It defies rationality.
This is what I think, based upon the available evidence, and may answer your questions of why an old (to us in 2004) PC 386 and Windows 3 is described in the Bible.
You're kidding right? You haven't even come close to explaining why time travelers would use an obsolete system. I wouldn't even buy that as science fiction, and you expect us to swallow it?
Come up with an explanation as to the most glaring logical hole - there's no reason for time travellers in the future to be sent back with obsolete, expensive technologies.
