Re: Phillip Johnson? Henry Morris?
I find your admiration of Ken Ham as an opponent very interesting. Do you know others who also feel as you do about him?
Hmm. Can't say I do. I doubt I have more than one or two friends who would even recognize the name Ken Ham. In our village, evolution vs. a literal Genesis has been a hot topic in the past, and it comes up now and again in the present, but we really don't have anyone who's looked into it much except me. So, all my more technical discussions are on the internet, where I haven't seen Ham spoken positively of, either.
I remember mentioning Kent Hovind on the CompuServe religion forum years and years ago, when the internet was somewhat new. I got a surprisingly tender response from the evolutionists. They said, "We think he might not be sane, so we go light on him."

Terminal Drift - not frost
How has an 'Honorable Opponents' thread turned into
a name 'em an' shame 'em thread ? - Lol.
Ken Ham is at AIG isn't he? - I've also seen him on T.V. revelation tv
Kent Hovind? I have heard his name, though I only know of it because of his infamy at the EvC.

Honourable opponents? Mammuthus - jemand der Deutsch spricht, ist fein in meinem Buch - (sorry). He and I have debated hotly in the fields of biology and personal exercise habits. He apologised very nicely for misunderstanding one of my posts. I also like Rei, who gave a balanced account of both sides to a newbie, and Percipient, who is always very polite.
On the creationist side, I don't know Apostle but after Message 14 he rates pretty high in my opinion.

Strong agreement from the fundie section. I watch many of his lectures - as well as some debates. He's the unofficial leader of AiG and is uncompromising, humorous, and courteous.

Schroeder? Gish?
One of my favorite authors in the Creation/Evolution debate is one Gerald Schroeder. He is relatively unknown, though he is relatively unknown. Three of his works are, 'Genesis and the Big Bang,' 'The Hidden Face of God,' and my personal favorite, 'The Science of God.'
The problem is, I do not no where to classify him. A strong defender of Intelligent Design, yet he also speaks with certainty about the Big Bang. An obvious Biblical scholar, but he concedes that Adam may have had parents.
Despite my many disagreements with him, I find his books very interesting.
On the creationist side, what do evolutionists think of Dr.Duane Gish. I believe he is now deceased, though I am not certain. He and Henry Morris were at one point THE CREATIONISTS. Times have changed and a new generation has relaced them, but I still wonder. What do honest people think of Duane Gish? I add the word honest because I know some evolutionists who will assassinate the character of an individual once it becomes known they are a Creationist. This was done with Dr.Morris, Dr. Gish and many of today's creationists. (Not a physical assassination of coarse, but the use of an ad hominen arguement). Evolutionists are not alone in this of coarse, for many creationists are also responsible.

Re: Schroeder? Gish?
Sounds like Schroeder is worthy of a "Book Nook" topic of his own.
This isn't really the topic to be discussing what people think of Henry Morris and Duane Gish. Although things have of course fallen apart a lot, this topic is/was intended as a place to say favorable things about people (and the evolution side pretty much doesn't think much favorable of Morris and Gish).
There was a Henry Morris topic already spun off of this topic. It's "Morris -- wacko? or elder statesman?".
Perhaps a Duane Gish topic is also in order.

Re: Schroeder? Gish?
From reading transcripts and reports on Gish at TalkOrigins, I would say that he is a known liar.

Re: Schroeder? Gish?
The statement alone says little, or perhaps more about you than Gish. If you wish to convince anyone I would strongly suggest you back up your opinions with examples.

Anyone who wants to know what it's like to debate Duane Gish should probably read Michael Shermer's "Why People Believe Weird Things", a study of various crackpot beliefs like holocaust denial, Ayn Rand's cult of personality, and creationism.
Great book. When Gish came to my college to debate, I sadly couldn't attend, but I did get a friend to take my copy to be autographed by the participants, including Gish himself.
