But I would like to see your friends defend their beliefs and why Christianity is synonymous with Crusades.
"Jihad" refers to the inner struggle, PG, for most Muslims.

Re: A cult
It's not THAT they went on those crusades, but WHY they went. Find out for me why they went on those crusades and read 'Sealed Nectar'. Then we'll talk.
Should love to see your friends defend the murderous intent extolled in the quoran.

Re: A cult
mohammed wasn't god. he was only a prophet like moses. moses is dead too, does that mean the jews are wrong? no.

Re: A cult
not all muslims want to kill the infidel. that is a small group which follows the teachings of ibn taymiya who was bitter about the crusades.

Re: A cult
yep. sounds like nah-nah-nah -nah to me. i'm a christian, but i find the time to respect other people by considering their version of the truth. you are unchristlike and i have no evidence that you are a christian because of it. jesus respected others and you fail to do anything but hautily proclaim the rightness of your own mind. shame on you.

Why they went on Crusades
is pretty clear. The pontiff saw that the supposedly Christian rulers of Northern Europe were busy fighting each other. That was interfering with the peaceful collection of revenue. So he decided to redirect the violence to some external target. The Muslim world was handy.
But once agin, you are pulling us way off topic. This thread was meant to address the Mormon faith in relation to whether or not it is Christian or should be considered a cult.
If you really look at the cults within Christianity, it becomes obvious that the largest single cult is that made up of Fundamentalists and Literalists. Those are the really prevalent cults today.

Re: A cult
christianity doesn't support a democracy. jesus is king. that is theocracy... just like muslims.
and christians and jews aren't allowed to build churches... which is why the persian empire funded the rebuilding of the temple when they took over from babylon. yes this was before islam, but it was some of the people who became muslims (most shi'a outside of iraq are of persian descent).
who do you get your information on islam from?

Re: A cult
The quoran and what is written in it applies to all muslims. Its mandates to kill apply to all muslims. Kill the infidel, the dhimmi, who has no rights other than to die. Read the 'Sealed Nectar' it is the profits bio. Christians have no such charge from their creator. What you read in the Old Testament you need to understand as a whole, not taken apart in bits and pieces to be applied at will.
1.Islam is not a religion; it is a continuing criminal enterprise. Neither is it peaceful. Its chief canonical book: the Qur`an has three Suras (8,9 & 48) which are fully dedicated & devoted to the sanctification and mandate of Jihad.
2.Democracy involves equality before the law. Islam involves Dhimmitude: conquered Jews & Christians are considered sub-human; denied social & legal equality. They are not permitted to pray in public, construct or maintain churches or synagogues,
own or ride horses, own or carry weapons, hold government office or testify in court against Muslims who injure them.
Democracy involves government of laws, not men. Islam considers man made legislation to be blasphemy.
3.The above mentioned Dhimmitude says it all, except that Dhimmitude also includes an annual 50% income tax and that Dhimis are subject to persecution and murder at the whim of the Calip
Deny and proof the opposite from text that the above is inaccurate and no such instructions and commands exist in the quoran.
And then we will discuss whose shame it is.

"Let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit!"

so it's ok for god to tell the jews to kill people but not for god to tell the muslims to kill people. wow. that's a double standard.
