I was about to post my choice but then it just seems so cruel. There are too many great posters with trade offs on different categories.
The best I can say is that the person who awes me with the most consistent and voluminous content combined with logic, it would have to be Rei. Thus each of her posts on any subject tends to have more info better assembled than those of others. The exception would be Bill B but he addresses a more limited area than Rei. Of course Rei just came back from a major break, so I don't know if she should get it if we are just talking about this year. The person who awes me with the most neutral and accepting attitude... the mellow award... would be Ned. I'll leave it up to thread's owner to decide which ultimately is more important for winning this award. holmes "...what a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away.."(D. Bros)

Is it because of his objectivity and open mindedness or his knowledge and effort?

I'll limit my input in this thread, but thanks for posts and comebacks so far, I will update the "standings so far" in due course.
Sherlock Holmes writes: I'll leave it up to thread's owner to decide which ultimately is more important for winning this award. Are you just trying to force me into a mathematical error? I'll hold off on your nomination for now Holmes, and thanks for suggesting me as one who might decide which is more important BUT - may I suggest you hold out a lil longer, and come back with a nomination? Thanks. ( You can plead conscientcious objection if u want but I really don't want to decide for u)

Actually, if we go for the opposite side of the spectrum, I'd vote for RiVeRrAt... or rIvErRaT... can't remember which one.

I'd like to nominate Mike the Wiz. Ever since I got back, I've been really impressed with his openmindedness, his willingness to admit errors or to apologize when he has misstated another person's views, how calmly he has been able to take debates when the other party gets assertive, and other such things that many (including myself) sometimes forget to keep in mind. Most posters here seem to be like they were when I left (be that a good thing or a bad thing), but Mike has really changed, for the better.

Thanks Buz!
Reminder; (Buz I promise this is not aimed at you, I've been choking on the thought all day)..but knowledge and posts of the month MUST trump who we *want* or *favour*, well - atleast in my opinion anyway. And consider that there is untill the end of 2004 to vote. So far some names are definitely missing, but it's early days yet. Also, I'd like the Admins to make any suggestions they feel necessary as to who we should vote for (obviously not by name) - but rather, how we should choose. I only made the topic but they run the forum, and make the decisions, I feel if they have suggestions then their input is VERY valid to this topic. Thanks.
