Could someone enlighten us beer newbies with maybe a glossary to your eldritch beer language? Pilsner? Lager? I don't speak your crazy moon language. I know that it says "cerveza" on my six-pack of Corona, though.
I would never have thought that there could be beer snobs, but I see I was mistaken.

Oh, that simply cannot be true!

Well I'm out for Oktoberfest. I was preparing to go and then my computer completely crashed... hard. That's my livelihood and I will now be busy getting that damn thing rebuilt the rest of the week.
If for some reason I can get done with it before thursday I'll still try an make it, but I wouldn't count on it.
I supposed this is a general heads up to other EvC folks as well that I won't be posting regularly. I have to use my gfs computer in the meantime and that's only when I get the chance. Hopefully I'll have enough time to deal with IDman.
Anyway, have a beer and a brat for me! If I'm here next year, I'll remember it's late september and get it planned. Are there any other good German holidays?

Hi holmes,
Sorry to hear that you won't make it. Maybe we can trade email addresses (via Percy) and meet some other time this year? Also, the next big beer fest is in March (Nockerberg) and that one in my opinion, is better than Oktoberfest. By the way, half of the Netherlands are here because of Ajax vs. Bayern Mnchen...I'll root for Ajax since Olli Kahn is an ass.

I survived...sort of.
Well, after 3 mass of beer (3 L) at the Hacker-Pschorr Biergarten, I think a two year old creationist or even Robert Byers could outgun me on critical thinking today. I will say that the Oktoberfest this year is so well attended that after 2 hours of trying, we could not get into one of the big tents where the music plays and people dance on the tables. We had to settle for sitting outside. But that is ok..I guess it beats listening to a group of guys in funny leather shorts singing John Denver tunes with a German accent.
Maybe next year we can reserve a table in one of the tents and have an EvC Oktoberfest for anyone who can make it here? Just think, heavy discussions about EvC combined with lots of alcohol and brass bands...the possibilities are endless
