Author | Topic: Suggestions for God | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

I would like to invite Rrhain, Crashfrog, and Dan Carroll specifically, but also everyone else, to discuss, specifically, how God could make this world better.
This is, for the most part, in response to posts suggesting that God could be doing a better job than he currently is. I would like to suggest the title: Suggestions for God. Faith and Belief forum?

Damn, he beat me to it.
Why did you include Rrhain on the list? He's never claimed to be an atheist. Or anything at all, for that matter. If you think you know his religious standpoint, you're making a considerable arrogant presumption, I feel.

Yeah, that's a good point. I can't think you've argued with Rrhain too many times if you've never encountered his trademark "what makes you think I'm _____?"
Next you'll be asking why he never blinks and asks you if you really just said that.

He said he would like to invite Rrhain. That's all.
You guys really should observe logic, and not over-conclude by adding your own information, as I don't seem to be able to find where he said Rhain is an atheist.

Since no one seems to be taking this topic seriously yet I'll have a go.
I'd like to suggest to god that "what goes around comes around" should be much more clear than it is. It seems unfortunate in a world created by something all good that good and bad don't seem to directly earn the appropriate result more obviously. This business of evening everything up in the afterlife is a poor way to run this world, IMHO.

Hi NosyNed,
You wrote,

This business of evening everything up in the afterlife is a poor way to run this world, IMHO. There's more than one way to skin a chicken. You can take it from the dust - or evolve it. One thing's for sure - God does things his own way - while I can see that this world is not good anymore - if we're honest, God in the bible - tried to clean up a lot. In the end, he came once for all, it's the clever thing really ...and it says that he will seperate the sheep from the goat so to speak. So - God is long-suffering - for the sake of the good. Also - he said he won't uproot the chaff lest he uproot the wheat with is - but there will be a harvest of seperation. I know this won't mean much to you - but it's my duty to tell what the bible says.

One way to interpret his statement is that he's lumping three vocal atheists together, except that Rrhain may not be an atheist. Another way to interpret his statement is that he's listing three persons who have taken opposing positions in the past; you would be right that that's not calling Rrhain anything at all. Maybe that's what he meant.

Okay, I was just jokin' around really frogdude. I enjoy interrupting evo-harmony . But sometimes I desire certain people to debate with as I simply enjoy debating with certain dudeguy/ettes. Maybe he also does.

I would politely suggest to God that he come down to Earth for a little while and give us a detailed explanation of what he wants out of us. It would solve so many problems if he made that clear.

Yes, I'm saying that it is not obvious enough that there is a strong correlation between wickedness and punishment. At best there is some when humans handle it. No hint that god does.

For starters, it would be nice if he could cut down on natural disasters which wipe out tens of thousands of innocent lives every year.
Also be good if he could cut down on the diseases which maim, seriously incapacitate or kill millions of young infants every year. Unless you think there's a good reason for innocent people suffering and dying? PE

Hi Gary,
I would politely suggest to God that he come down to Earth for a little while and give us a detailed explanation of what he wants out of us. It would solve so many problems if he made that clear. The bible has alot of information concerning what he expects people to do before Jesus returns. Among other things, God expects us to follow his commandments (The Ten Commandments). When Jesus was asked by a Pharisee: "which is the great commandment in the law", he answered:
...Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Matthew 22:37-40.38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. The epistles in the New Testament contain alot of instruction on how God expects us to live day-to-day. Beyond those, I think God expects us to work to earn a living, decide whether or not we want to marry and have children (it's not commanded), and enjoy life (within the context of what is pleasing to God). I'm sure I missed something(s) in there but, I think you get the idea. God leaves alot of specific decisions up to you (i.e. what career, who you choose as your spouse (as long as they are Godly), how many kids you have, house, car, etc.).
