I need info, guys. Has there been studies which document the occurence of an evolutionary 'arms race'?

Hi Andya,
There've been quite a few behavioral studies and ecology studies around this, especially most recently in parasitology. I'll try and dig up some actual references, but you might try PubMed in the meantime.

Hi Andya:
As promised, here are a few articles/links that might be of use.
Predator-Prey Arms Races (from Bioscience)
Musser RO, Hum-Musser SM, Eichenseer H, et al.: Caterpillar saliva beats plant defences. Nature 2002, 416:599-600 - I couldn't find this one on line, but you can read a synopsis here.
Extinction and naticid predation of the bivalve chione Von Mhlfeld in the late neogene of Florida, an interseting article concerning a change in predator behavior with a change in species in a local population
Mauricio, R. Natural selection and the joint evolution of tolerance and resistance as plant defenses. Evolutionary Ecology 14: 491-507 (2000) I couldn't get this one on line, either.
Is Rattlesnake Venom Evolving?, an article from the Am. Museum of Nat. History.
You might also see if you can track down Dawkins & Krebs 1993 paper on nest predation and the evolution of defensive behaviors between cuckoos and their host birds. I don't have a citation, but you should be able to dig it up on line.
Hope this helps.

thanks! Arms race can be a powerful weapon against anti-evo arguments like 'What good is half an eye?'
