with Bush now serving his 2nd term I'm beginning to wonder if we are going to witness a rise in creationist efforts to push their agenda through schools like never before. Some anectodal evidence is already being seen:
1. Bush allows the book claiming the Grand Canyon was created by Noah's flood to be sold at one of the GC's bookstores, despite telling Congress and the public that the book was "under review at the national level by several offices," which of course didn't take place:

2. I think most of you here are familiar with the BOE cases brought up in Georgia and Ohio. My homestate of Kansas is likely to be comin' up here again for a push towards allowing ID into the science rooms now too. Well in addition, it appears now that Wisconsin is on the chopping block too:

What I do not know and would like to ask anyone out there is this -
Creationist/ID institutes such as Discovery.org, ARN, etc., how much do they get funded and by whom? I love wearing a good tin foil hat as much as anyone, but I can't help but wonder what kind of politics are involved with these creationist organizations. Anyone got the skinny on these groups and the possible political ties they may have?
And what's more, are they ever going to pursue a research agenda, as they continue to profess, rather than a state BOE wedge agenda? I realize that the obvious answer would be, "What's there to research?", but I am curious if these groups have actually performed any research in any way, shape, or manner.
