JacketsFan, a better question would have been what caused atoms to form in the first place.......because no scientists knows the answer to this. Apart from half-assed theories about once existant and now non=existant quantum gravity, which have no mathematical and certainly no empirical evidence to back them, no one knows how atoms form in the first place.

We don't know anything about why quanta do what they do......we know WHAT they do, just like primitive hunters knew the way a wolf hunted, but he didn't understand WHY......just like we don't. And we don't figure to.....in fact, it's the majority scientific opinion (the Copenhagen interpretation) that we won't.
But people still somehow claim that science can explain everything. I believe in science and I believe in logic, but basing all your assumptions on the belief that human logic can explain everything is simply an example of anthropomorphic bias.

No, we claim exactly that; science can often explains the how and what but hardly ever the why.

Science can no more explain away god than you can explain god. There is nothing there to investigate.

The burden of proof will ALWAYS be on atheists........when we look around, it's self-evident that everything has been made by a creator or creators. That's why no society in human history has ever been atheistic.......
If you wanna convince me my dog is really a cat, you've gotta do a HELLUVA lot more than say "you've yet to prove it's actually a dog..."

Jason. Though you are banned I must respond to your lack of understanding.
In any arguement the burden of proof is on the one who makes a claim.Theists who argue for the existence of ? are the one who must defend such not the atheiest. If such self evidence existed the arguement would be easily defended. As for societies and atheism the opinion of the majority chasing comforting wishes does not make the wishes real.

Re: Holding atoms together
Youv've been banned before for posts like the one you just did. If you have something to say, say it and back it up with info and/or evidence and stop the personal attacks. Almost all your posts have violated forum guidelines and when noticed of it you get unreasonable and start with the personal attacks again. So i'm sure nosy is not gonna let you stay in here too long.

In any arguement the burden of proof is on the one who makes a claim.
And both theists and atheists make claims.......theists claim God exists, atheists claim he doesn't.
If such self evidence existed the arguement would be easily defended.
What do you mean "if"? Years of propoganda has gotten people to forget the obvious. I've never witnessed a machine BUILD itself......I've never seen a book WRITE itself.......so when I learn that even complex single-celled creature is more complex than the most complex machine, and that there was and is more genetic information exchanged in my body than any library could hold, it's self-evident that life was designed.
And, in light of such self-evidence, you have to make an AIRTIGHT argument to the contrary to get any logical person to believe otherwise. And it is now almost universally accepted that this is impossible to do.
As for societies and atheism the opinion of the majority chasing comforting wishes does not make the wishes real.
This is Eurocentric thinking. The vast majority of religions in world history didn't offer comfort.
Social novelties evolved the same way biological ones do........that is, they start in simple form, and get more complex. For instance, the roll of marriage in society today is complex, but anthropologists believe that it's original roll was simply to define the parentage of children. Further conventions became attatched to marriage later, but that's not how they originated. Likewise, the most basic purpose for religion was to explain where everything came from and how it sustains itself (which is why atheism is also a religion, BTW). Conventions such as comforting concepts came later.
And all of human culture has unanimously found it self-evident that all things were created and are sustained by said creator/s.

What personal attacks did I make in that post?
Almost all your posts have violated forum guidelines and when noticed of it you get unreasonable and start with the personal attacks again.
The only one making personal attacks and unsupported statements here (like the above) is you......

On the contrary... the alias NosyIsAnUglyMan is a personal attack on NosyNed, specifically name-calling.
If we are going to get into a discussion about why you were banned (assuming you rejoin under yet another username), please post in this topic: "Jason Chin has elected to visit boot camp for a time".
I would ask that members and moderators not respond to these off-topic posts in this thread - save it for the above thread.
