quote: What a frightening, drama-filled world you live in. You sound like you have time-traveled in from medieval Europe during the Dark Ages. There is a very good book your post reminded me of, and I reccommend it to you: "The Demon Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark", by Carl Sagan.

quote: The devil is hardly mentioned in the Bible, and neither is hell. It is modern Christianity which has given the devil and hell a much greater presence in the practice of the religion. Having a Big Bad living in a terrible place is a great tool to keep people fearful and therefore more controllable.

FYI, between my husband and I, I am much more mentally organized and he is the scatterbrained one. He's the professional scientist, though, so go figure. Is that the "absented minded professor" syndrome? A person so caught up in their thinking about the subject that is of central importance to them that they don't pay attention to the mundance details of their lives such as if their socks match or where they sat their coffee cup down.

Quite. There is not a demon in your hand. Therefore, you can not deny it, since it doesn't exist.
To the atheist, the demon in your hand and god are the SAME THING.

I can accept that view of it, but I can't deny it's existance because it exists, at least to my view. Thank you for your answer, however.

Actuaully, there are twelve on hell, and twenty two on the devil, not counting demons, judgement, and punishment. I do not speak of demons and the devil without personal experiance and hearing the experiances of my elders dealing with them. It is some what easy to see the devil and his work throughout the world.

Very well. My mum is going to read it first, however, and see if it's something I would be able to read.

That is not what I'm saying. Okay, in lamance terms, humans are probley to most spiritually blind and deaf creatures in the universe. We, in our quests for normality and science, fail to recognize God's attempts to communicate with us. He does speak to us, but we are to stupid to hear Him. So, it seems to me, that He allowed the devil to get big headed and leave Heaven, in order to show us that He loves us.
