Re: Stubborn?
"Simplistic" is right. Tell me something, what part of "I am unwilling to accept 'general' or 'abbreviated' statements in defense of your position." didn't you understand? My only conclusion is that you are uninterested in actually supporting your claims. Once you admit that, then I will be quite happy to leave you in peace.

Re: Your theory
Nosy,
Someone has got to step into this place every now and again and try to wake you guys up. God says you are without excuse. He uses sinful losers like me to sufficiently remind you that He is out their calling for you to recognize His omnipotence.
Good GOD. What an ass! No wonder you are only a creationist.

quote:
But if no man comes to God unless the Spirit draws them, no amount of logic will ever convince a scientist to refute their belief in logic. Theologians should stay away from science. It is like parents going to a rap concert and acting cool. To convince anyone in this forum that there is a Creator, you must attempt to get to know them, get along with them, and trust that the Spirit will draw them towards Him. No amount of logic will ever supercede the established science of our current time.(Unless it is better science, not theological stew.)
Yes, I think that is true. And, we have:
1Co 2:14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.
I think an appeal to spiritual things are discerned by the spirit. So, if the Spirit draws someone, they will discern a spiritual message. i.e., scientists where are being drawn by the Spirit do not need scientific arguments, they will be drawn with spiritual arguments if God is calling them to Him.
But, just the same, I should apologize to everyone for being a jerk. I can certainly do a better job of being Christlike.

Re: Your theory
You arrogant, presumptuous little ass. I am stunned yet again at the sad combination of ignorance and unwarranted self assurance that religion can impart to some of the weak minded. I know this is a few days late, but I cannot let this pass.
How dare you, you self important zealot, presume to talk to people like that? No one needs your guidance. No one wants it. If you are the example we should be following, well, I for one don't want to go through life thinking myself wise when I am ignorant, pious when I am but wasting my time, and an example when I am laughable.
Stay in your tiny, worthless, demon haunted world (to steal a phrase). Don't bother trying to stick your nose out to drag me, for one, in there with you.

Re: Your theory
Tell you what Maestro. You bring god to the playing field in person and I will kick his ass...How about asking him to walk the walk?
He DID. Remember that Jesus guy? I hear he did pretty crazy stuff. You know, like dieing for our sake. I'll bet you'd enjoy kicking the ass of the person who loves you the most in the entire universe. The prophets talked the talk, Jesus walked the walked and suffered because of it. You should be a bit more thankful.
But I bet you will find he doesn't answer that prayer eh? Omnipotent but unable is pretty lame
Ya, 'cause the omnipotent god HAS to do what YOU tell him to...

New here...first post.
I'm a creationist based on faith supported by Biblical evidence.
I've just started doing my own "digging" and research on the topic of a young earth and creationism to support my beliefs. I have no clue where this journey will take me but I feel I've been pulled into having to be able to support what I believe....not just to say it.
I look forward to reading and participating when I can in the topics (I've looked around and to say the least, most here, from both sides of the debate, would pound me into the ground at this point).

Welcome!
Hi Flyer75 and welcome to Evc Forum!
I'm sure you will find a great deal of stimulating discussion here.
I've just started doing my own "digging" and research on the topic of a young earth and creationism to support my beliefs. I have no clue where this journey will take me but I feel I've been pulled into having to be able to support what I believe....not just to say it.
I applaud such an attitude. A sense of empiricism like that is a good thing to have, although I have to say, you might find that the more you dig, the harder it is to maintain certain beliefs.
I look forward to reading and participating when I can in the topics (I've looked around and to say the least, most here, from both sides of the debate, would pound me into the ground at this point).
It's not about pounding on anyone. I try to only get confrontational with those who display arrogance in inverse proportion to their knowledge of the subject being discussed.
I'm sure you'll find plenty of folks here are eager to chew over the topic of creationism with you.

Welcome to EvC Forum, Flyer75.
I am pleased to say that you've picked the right forum to learn about the evolution vs creation debate. I myself started out as you are now, a young earth creationist based on the Bible, and what I had been taught as a kid. Then I started looking into the evidence and the arguments of both sides. This led me to being an Old Earth Creationist, then a Theistic Evolutionist, and finally, an evolutionist who also happens to be a Christian. I still think about the subject often, and enjoy discussing and learning the arguments of both sides. In a way, I feel liberated by the fact that I have objectively considered all sides of the argument. It doesn't necessarily make me right, but being free to follow the evidence wherever it leads is more likely to get me there.
Don't be put off by the bluntness of some of our members. It takes all kinds, you know. Usually, if you're a civil debater, people here will treat you with respect. Remember, it's not about winning a debate or promoting one's belief, it's about learning.
Respectfully,
-Meldinoor

There is no need to be a creationist to see of the flaws in evolutionary beliefs and reject them for what they are, a belief. Ultimately evolution is a religion masquerading as a science discipline

Some Evidently Still Refuse to Get It
IchiBan writes:

Some people believe the evidence speaks for itself and some others do not believe in evaluating evidence, because they absurdly think they already know everything, or worse, they are so intellectually lazy they let others do their thinking for them.
Ultimately evolution is a religion masquerading as a science discipline
If you think that, I doubt you know as much as you think you do about either science or religion.
Normal (as opposed to pseudo) science is about the evidence, and the evidence for descent with modification in lifeforms is utterly overwhelming.
Religion at its best, is about examining various ancient tomes for clues as to how one should behave, and at its worst is about blind unquestioning obedience to a dishonest and corrupt mortal authority figure.
Of course one would have to evaluate such evidence with an open mind to know this fact, a feat difficult at best for the most conscientious, and impossible for those who are not allowed to examine their beliefs, for whatever reason.
Edited by anglagard, : add second instance of word some as to not set up an either/or dichotomy.

The idea of the sacred is quite simply one of the most conservative notions in any culture, because it seeks to turn other ideas - uncertainty, progress, change - into crimes.
Salman Rushdie
This rudderless world is not shaped by vague metaphysical forces. It is not God who kills the children. Not fate that butchers them or destiny that feeds them to the dogs. It’s us. Only us. - the character Rorschach in Watchmen

True enough, any of a dozen brands of self-delusional personality will suffice.

There is no need to be a creationist to see of the flaws in gravitational beliefs and reject them for what they are, a belief. Ultimately gravity is a religion masquerading as a science discipline.
Fixed that for ye.

"Some people think God is an outsized, light-skinned male with a long white beard, sitting on a throne somewhere up there in the sky, busily tallying the fall of every sparrow. Othersfor example Baruch Spinoza and Albert Einsteinconsidered God to be essentially the sum total of the physical laws which describe the universe. I do not know of any compelling evidence for anthropomorphic patriarchs controlling human destiny from some hidden celestial vantage point, but it would be madness to deny the existence of physical laws."-Carl Sagan
