Why is that topics that don't span multiple pages don't get the number of messages they contain listed in the 'All Topics' view?
A minor complaint, I know, but it bugs.

I'm not sure if this has been addressed, and I don't fancy going through 14 pages to find out, but does this dboard version have any implicatins for the problems with threads breaking around the 300 post mark?

I'm not sure if this has been addressed, and I don't fancy going through 14 pages to find out, but does this dboard version have any implicatins for the problems with threads breaking around the 300 post mark? Under the UBB software, adding a message to a thread required three steps:
Under dBoard software, step 2 is *much* faster and efficient, and step 3 no longer takes place as HTML pages are no longer generated because pages of messages for a thread are generated on demand (which is why everyone can choose how many messages they want per page). This should remove any practical upper limit on the length of threads. I imagine ever 10,000 messages would be okay.

This is annoying me, too, and so is likely to be fixed soon. The problem also appears on a couple other message list pages, though not in precisely the same way.

I notice also that you've chosen to adjust the page link lists so that it omits the middle section of longer lists. I'd suggest that this is undesirable and reduces the utility of the interface, except in extremely long threads (perhaps 30+ pages?) which are rare or unheard of on this forum.

I'd agree that jumping to a specific page again would be good.. There is room I think.

Are you saying that you received *old* notifications sent to your Netscape email account? If true, that would be extremely weird.
I wasn't going to say anything, but since you mention this, I filed a report with our webhosting company, and the answer was that they're not aware of any blocking being done by their email server. They added that some company with a name I don't remember, but something like mailabuse.org, has included their email server (somebody they host must be a major spammer), and that if Netscape subscribes to their service then this could cause the problem. I have insufficient time to investigate further.

yes 27 to the old e-mail address, 1 to the new. (just to make it really weird? the one to the new was a legit reply to the RAZD8 version, all the ones to netscape were replys to RAZD).
I used to use an email address with a company that had a hoard of @.com choices (@mom.com, @dad.com, @etc.com) until I found out it was blocked because of that spam problem. I understood that the mailabuse.org contacts the provider about spam problems and if they don't clean it up then they go on the list. My impression was that netscape usually cleaned it up (booted the offenders) and why new names need to write the code words etcetera. I don't think any company can keep their service from being abused, just limit the amount of damage. I am just happy that all is working, and I can leave the worries in your capable hands. we are limited in our ability to understand by our ability to understand RebelAAmerican.Zen[Deist

I understand, but some people might have the number of messages per page set to 5, so they'd have many, many pages, 60 for a 300 message thread. So you're not finding the "<<" and ">>" that skip backward and forward by 10 pages useful? If so, would a different skip amount help? Another possibility is to make the number of pages listed before using "..." user selectable through the profile page. Those with opinions, please let me know what you think.

Admin,
There are two copies of the (embarrasing) thread "A funny mistake by ICR and example of poor scholarship." The new one is here, and the old one is here. I doesn't seem like a problem, but is wierd enough that I thought you might want to see it. JT This message has been edited by JT, 02-09-2005 17:04 AM
