Re: Judgements
No grand devine judgements this time.
Hi LB. I like your posting style and respect your intelligent input in the forum. It would be cool if we heard more from you. Do you believe devine wrath latter day judgements are at some point in order for the planet?

Re: Allah's Signiture
quote:
Yup, it was a very transient canvas for his signature, but isn't it all the more amazing because of it? Allah could have signed his name more permanently in a new sandbar created by the waves, or in a pile of rubble, but instead he signed the actual wave itself AND ensured a satellite/plane took a picture of it at that one and only moment, before it vanished forever.
Fascinating.
Yeah, it's a lot like the grilled cheese sandwich with the virgin mary on it.
Or the tortilla.
Or the face on mars.

Re: Update
.... that is still not forbiding Christ, Christianity and the Bible. And frankly, I can well understand keeping most Christian Missionaries out.
Granted, "forbidden" may not be the right word, but the government clearly discourages Christian evangelization by Christian citizens and foreign missionaries are forbidden.
And you have a problem with that? Even my Christian School had us study Islam as well as the Eastern Religions and most other religions as well and that was 40 or 50 years ago. Why would you object to teaching Islamic Students their own religion?
For a Christian school to be required to exclusively teach Islam to Islamic students would undermine the purpose of the school and require the school to teach doctrines which they believe to be false. Your school was not required by your government to teach Islam in your school. Big difference.
Please give us one possible reason that Islamic Students shouldn't be taught Islam?
As a moderator, I think you need to remember that there's a point when you need to get back on topic when related topics factor in.

I didn't think that you would entertain me with looking at it from any other perspective than the strictly natural one.
It's not a matter of perspective. It's a matter of what is, and what isn't, in the Earth's crust.
What isn't in the Earth's crust is a mechanism that detects human sin in order to cause more or less earthquakes.
I was just trying to give a Biblical perspective answer as to what happened without bringing in crazy religious superstitiousness like a signature in the waves crap.
Too late.

Back on Topic
Abshaloms original questions were:
The Questions:
1) Is the recent tsunami in Southeast Asia an example of God's willful and wrathful intent to inflict punishment, vengence, or some other specific intent?
2) If God intended punishment or vengence, for what specifically?
3) If God intended punishment or vengence, why did He choose a disaster that disproportionately drowns or otherwise afflicts women, infants, the weak, elderly, and affirmed individuals rather than inflicting a punishment that specifically targets "evil doers?"
4) If the tsunami is an example of God's Wrath, and God is an omniscient being, then He must realize the after-effects such as cholera, typhoid, starvation, death by thirst, diarrhea, dehydration, exposure, etc.; are those afflictions also God's intended wrath, and if so, are the relief efforts actually a work of mankind against God's Intent, hence "SIN?"
While some of us may disagree whether or not natural disasters in general are a result of a supernatural "Original Sin" and Fall of humanity, I think that we can agree that God did not cause the Tsunamis. The Bible says that judgement begins in the house of God, so...if the Bible Belt is the house of God, I would be praying if I lived in New Madrid, Mo. or some such spot.
Abshalom, do you wish to redirect the topic with further questions at this point?

Ahuh - and look at the Wests dmeonising of Islam, and the conflation of Muslims with terrorists.
quote:
For a Christian school to be required to exclusively teach Islam to Islamic students would undermine the purpose of the school and require the school to teach doctrines which they believe to be false.
Which would be exactly the same as requiring schools in the US teach Creation as anything other than a crackpot ancient dogma.
Remember that chrisitians in your state are arguoing precisely that the model demonstrated here is a good one and should be adopted by christians and the US.

All the christians making arguments to the fallen world are wrong. You see a muslim cleric has determined that, especially in the case of Thailand, it was the Western-serving sex trade that so angered god. Thus this shows gods displeasure for otherwise good people consorting with depraved westerners, and how irresponsible those westerners are, seeing as they have brought gods wrath down on the heads of innocents too.
See? Hubrisitc claims to notional right and wrong, menaingless theories about a fictional sky-fairy, can be manipulated to mean anything you opportunistically want it to mean.

Re: Back on Topic
Dear Phat:
Thank you for your attempt to pull the discussion back on topic. Sorry about my unfortunate spelling of "vengeance" in the OP.
No, I do not wish to redirect the discussion at this time. It's apparent that no member is yet ready to claim the tsunami is God's Wrath or Vengeance, and then defend that claim or address questions #2, #3, or #4 at all.
If you or another member wish to redirect the discussion in an orderly fashion with specific and related questions, feel free. Otherwise, the Administrator may feel free to close the topic after giving other members a chance to distill anything pertinent out of this mess and transfer it to another thread.
If this thread is closed before I get another chance to post in it, thanks to the members who contributed interesting information and thoughtful replies.
Regards, Abshalom

Gilgamesh,
It's a strinking coincidence that the picture was taken just as Allah's wrote his name.
