Do any of you good folk know what this is? They were found on a citrus tree and ranged in size from about 1 1/2" to 4" in length.

Here is something to relieve stress.
Assume that a does not equal b.
​
a + b = t
(a + b)(a - b) = t(a - b)
a - b = at - bt
a - at = b - bt
a - at + t/4 = b - bt + t/4
(a - t/2) = (b - t/2)
a - t/2 = b - t/2
a = b
Since all numbers are the same, math is useless.

It does look like a moth.
Would like to see it with wings spread, if that is what I see.

Were they moving? They look like pupae to me unless the top picture has legs showing. The range in size doesn't sound like pupae, but they sure look like it.

Yup, moving. They look similar to some of the slug caterpillars but had none of the spines that you see on them.
