I would like to regain access to my old identity:
NOTE: I just changed my e-mail listed under RAZD and got booted off with a notice that a new password was sent to my e-mail -- it is also missing as are all the notification ones, so I have registered a new version to use until it gets straightened out. ps -- can you (admin) e-mail my RAZD {current\new} password to RAZD8@yahoo.com? or RAZD8@netscape.net if the issue is security? ps -- is there a "forgot your password" feature? (If you can access passwords, you will see that I have changed the password for this persona to the same as the previous one for RAZD.) we are limited in our ability to understand by our ability to understand RebelAAmerican.Zen[Deist

yep got it all going fine. thanks.
suggestion: have the reply window open in another {window\page}, so that reference back to previous posts is easier?

It seems that after you post a message that the blue {light\button} signals that you have unread messages on that thread: your own.
Shouldn't it show up as read when it is posted? Or is this because I regularly get rid of all cookies etc? (it didn't happen that time) This is particularly noticable when it is "on" and the last message is my message (same number) ... can that be filtered? This message has been edited by RAZD, 01-22-2005 16:13 AM yep, clearing the cookies does it. This message has been edited by RAZD, 01-22-2005 17:21 AM

yeah, that is what happens. but could you filter for the ones where your message is the last one? no biggie, it just kind of voids the benefits of the blue lights (which I understand is my fault )

not a biggy but ...
would it be possible to turn off the links to replies ("yes") to messages that are in closed posts and cannot be answered? you might call your restriction to one topic a "stick to the point" (or STP) restriction with emphasis on answering points raised by others rather than reposting positions as if nothing was said (aka Jerry)

if you do make that email change is it possible to link the user name of the person responding into the subject of the email? (ie -- EvC response from Percy)?

yes, you could also get a situation where the link is to another thread which could result in some interesting cross postings.
my question related to the {subject line} of the e-mail notifications containing the user name of the respondant.

Is it possible to turn off the light blue light on closed topics?
Particularly the ones from Proposed Topic when they have been promoted? Also would it be possible for people's preferences to automatically turn off those lights from forums they pick as not being interested in? People? Finally what about a radio button choice to {show new} O {show all} O posts? Just thinking of ways to increase filtering. by our ability to understand RebelAAmerican.Zen[Deist

sorry, to clarify: is it possible for the software to turn the blue lights off for closed threads? why signal a new message that cannot be responded to?
in particular when a proposed thread is moved to a new location, there is no need to signal the new message as it is repeated in the new location (what about having the message link to the new one?) not a big quibble, just a thought.

Would it be possible to add a colum to the search tool results to display subtopics? This would help narrow down the process of going through a lot of results for those of us that use subtopics as focus statements

per Adminnemooseus
EvC Forum: Dealing with waste of time threads and their posters... Can we limit a poster to one topic in PNT at a time? If they want to start another they would have to request that the first one be closed? This would allow quality new member posts and still take care of concerns about spamming or shotgun posting. Note by edit from Adminnemooseus - At the above cited I posted:
Sounds like a good idea to think about, but I wonder if it would be a coding problem. There's lots of little tweeks that are conceivable, but each one makes the works more complex. {Tweeked the link URL a bit - Link was and still is targeted at message 80. Changed the "m=79#80" part to "m=80#80". If the two numbers are not the same, the link may not work correctly for different member's page display setups. For example, if the above messages 79 and 80 weren't on the same page, there would be a problem. - Adminnemooseus} This message has been edited by Adminnemooseus, 11-11-2005 11:32 AM

Can we have some kind of standards for numbers and file sizes of pictures?
There are a couple of threads now that have so many pictures in all the posts that even on DSL it takes a long time to download the thread. This makes it very frustrating to read the next post. I've tried reducing the number of posts shown to 5 to handle it, but it then becomes a different problem of continually reloading the next page to read more. Percy: can we have some kind of filter that takes picture links and saves a smaller file to use in the post when it is posted? Kind of like a large avatar that is then automatically linked to a larger picture (if necessary). This allows you to see the large picture when you want to but leave it just the avatar afterwards. This would also help to automatically reduce deep links to other sites by our ability to understand RebelAAmerican.Zen[Deist

In the body of the message there could be a code like [replyto equals 5], [replyto equals 14] Cool idea. We already have code for Message 190 to link to a previous message. Two thoughts: (1) have an automatic addition at the end of each message for "links to this message" with thread title and message number (which could get real interesting with cross-thread references). May want to limit this to only EvC links ... (2) have a {qs=-190} that sets the link and that shows as From Message 190: I am an advocate of replying to multiple messages via a single message, such as in situations where the new message is relevant to the several previous messages. I certainly like to respond to several messages at once, usually to the same person, but I can see when one is on the receiving end of a barrage of responses that replying once on a point would cut down the hassle level. we are limited in our ability to understand by our ability to understand RebelAAmerican.Zen[Deist

How about having the preview be editable (fix spelling, embellish comments etc) so you don't have to keep scrolling up and down and finding where your error is in the (small) reply window.
This would also make it easier to fix things like {qs][/qs] we are limited in our ability to understand by our ability to understand RebelAAmerican.Zen[Deist
