Debate with Terry is an investigation into abnormal psychology, not a discussion. The last post of the exchange leading to my banning back in November of 2000 is message 75 of the Is light speed REALLY a constant? thread.

For what it's worth to anybody - I skimmed the remainder of the topic thread without noticing any banning commentary. Apparently Percy's was a stealth banning.

Ah, another debater with a skeleton in the closet. Should there be a "banned by Terry" support group?

Messages about the banning were there for a while, then Terry deleted them.
Terry is interested not in debate but in maintaining the appearance at his site that Creationists have the upper hand. And he's successful in that. Evolutionist members who are persistent in presenting their views will eventually be banned on one pretext or another. He's entertaining to watch, but that's about it. He occasionally ventures out to sites like usenet's Talk.Origins where he takes a beating then disappears for long periods. I wonder if he'd show if someone invited him here. --Percy

My experience was very similar in the Is light speed REALLY a constant? thread. Once he latched onto an interpretation he liked he would not let go of it. Pointing out that his interpretation of a passage rendered it contradictory to the rest of the article or introducing other articles making the point in a different way does not budge him. In my case he stopped discussing the actual issue and just posted messages declaring I was wrong and just wouldn't admit it. I assume he still believes there are scientists out there working on faster-than-light computers, just as he apparently believes stellar evolution is rapid.
With Terry it's, "Don't confuse me with the facts, because I get confused really easily. I know what I believe and you're wrong, and if you persist you're also banned!" --Percy

Yes Percy, it is very worrying behaviour from an engineer.
I'm sure it would be amusing to see Terry in an open forum where he couldn't exercise control. Maybe an invitation and a promise of us all being civil and treating the most absurd creatioist assertions with due respect will entice him to appear. Any suggestions on which board he might pop up in and what pseudonym he has used?

Something I posted on 3/21/02, in the "Ignorance and Arrogance" topic.

quote: I quoted it in it's entirety at: http://EvC Forum: Ignorance and Arrogance -->EvC Forum: Ignorance and Arrogance , so I won't repeat it here. Terry seems to be a prime example of someone under the influence of "Morton's Demon". Actually Moose I recall Terry saying at one point that he had corresponded with Glenn Morton at some earlier time on flood geology or some such matter and was of the opinion that Morton was incompetent or dishonest (I forget which).
Perhaps Morton's observations, Morton's Deamon included, were too close to the bone for Terry's comfort.

I appear to be unbanned: Email from MSN Talk Origins
I was still banned, so I reapplied, identified myself in case he'd forgotten, and apparently Terry let me in. Go figure. Added by edit: Whoops! Spoke too soon. I'm still banned. I guess readmission doesn't affect the ban list. Stay tuned... --Percy [This message has been edited by Percipient, 09-27-2002]

quote: To say the least. What some creationists have said about Morton, at the Talk Origins board (I think), would easily have gotten an evolutionist banned, had it been said about a YEC. It might even have gotten a poster chastised at . Fortunatly, here at , we have Kent Hovand, available for slurring by both evolutionists and creationists. Moose

It would appear that the evidence of Percy's ban at MSN talk.origins has been removed but I can give you the banning of Joe Meert at the same site.
The Ocean Depth Pangea Problem thread At message #18 is Joe's offending message. Terry's version of reality is detailed at message #22. I take no small kudos for having Terry leave the incriminating evidence on the board. And Terry has been oblivious to how damaging the evidence is to his own credibility. Interestingly this was one topic where the creationists completely failed to address the initial topic. Terry had by then decided not to tackle Joe Meert in an area of Joe's expertise.

wj, that's the same link, as the "here" that you asked about back on page 1 of this topic. Well, that goes to show, a "The Ocean Depth Pangea Problem thread" is better that a "here".
By the way, in case you didn't notice, the "here" type business can be done with either HTML or UBB code. See the respective help topics, if you wish. By the way, did you notice that I adopted the "homely anecdote" method, in my current Terry project (also as documented a bit up this page)? I think I'm entering a bit into his mindset, and it is a bit of a trip into the twilight zone. Moose
