This is an issue not only in Georgia, but in other areas as well. The debate has also made the news in Ohio and Kansas, although I find the Cobb County decision to be more general in nature than the debate in Ohio which specifically addresses "Intelligent Design".

Red and Nos,
The following link is a forum from the AJC looking for feedback on the school board decision :

From what I can see, the replies are mostly from local folk and seem to be running about 2:1 against the board's decision. (There may have been more posts since I was there.)
The board's vote was unanimous. The school board is elected, so maybe a better indicator of local sentiment would be to see how many members are re-elected in the next election (although I believe not all members run every year).
