Think about this just for a minute or two, please. Your ancestors, Faith, were likely warned repeatedly hundreds of years ago by their religious leaders about the ills that would ensue from letting their slaves go free, or borrowing money at interest, or how man was never intended by his creator to fly or to travel faster than a horse could carry him.
Just wondering -- can you produce any evidence of the "religious leaders" who preached such things? Very strange. Did you have ancestors who got such stuff from the pulpit? These were not Bible-believers.

I guess we're all SUCH idiots
quote:
An example that I have seen cited many times ...regarding God's sense of justice or condoning of murder/genocide is 1 Samuel 15. ...
Do you REALLY think that the thousands of great minds who believed and taught the Bible over the last 2000 years would have overlooked such an obvious contradiction as God's committing murder while prohibiting murder in His ten commandments? What IS this arrogance (yes that is really what it is) that people have who trust their own reactionary judgments against the consistent testimony of centuries?

Re: God judges us, we can't judge Him
Churches prohibited lending at interest until about the 1600's, based on verses in Ezekiel, IIRC. My great-great-grandfather, Ebenezer Dickey Junkin, D.D., was a well-respected clergyman (Presbyterian) and college president who wrote, among other things, a catechism "Particularly for the Instruction of Coloured Persons," where those coloured persons were reminded of many Bible verses which instructed them to be obedient and submissive to their masters. {A catechism was a FAQ on Bible matters widely used in the past for teaching.} The other stuff is, indeed, not scriptural. But the religious leaders of the appropriate times and places did, indeed, teach such.
Your grandbabies are doomed.
Google "usury" and "church" for starters on interest.
