Be careful my big furry friend, you seem to have been infected with a Terry-like virus. I suggest a good lie down with a few scientific journals. You should be cured in no time.

Explanation to someone from Germany, who may not have heard the U.S. incident.
A fair while back, some public figure used "denigrate" in a public speech. Someone else got all bent out of shape, because they thought the word was derived from the dreaded "N" word. I think the guy may have been forced to resign from his job. Much uproar over much ignorance.

Hi Moose,
I remember the incident you mentioned...pretty unbelievable stuff..by the way, this furry elephantid is originally from New York but only sheds in Germany
If I get some time I will go register on Terry's site and just post dubunked debunked debunked until I am banned...that should take all of about one post
Cheers,
M

I think it would be more interesting, to see if one could get banned for something more subtle.

Yeah, Mammuthus: You ought to be able to get banned for something really subtle. Try stating that your own research from your own lab shows unequivocally that mammoths died out over 10,000 years ago. That should get you kicked out pretty quick.

Hi, Terry! Welcome aboard!
You say you won't be coming back, so I'll keep this short since it's not likely you'll see it.
At your board it isn't possible to argue knowledgably for evolution without being banned. People are complaining about you because after investing considerable energy in discussion at your site you banned them. In many cases you also edited the post history.
My hope is that you'll join the EvC Forum so that we can complete the discussions that were left incomplete. There is a set of Forum Guidelines that are closely and fairly followed here. Discussion is usually civil and enforcement has never gone beyond a 24-hour suspension of posting privileges, something both evolutionists and Creationists have experienced.

I thought that the word that was used was "niggardly."
1. Grudging and petty in giving or spending.
2. Meanly small; scanty or meager: left the waiter a niggardly tip.

You're absolutely correct! See what happens when I depend on my memory.
I think the "denigrate" joke still keeps much of it's validity (it was part of a pretty silly string of comments). I was, as I wrote this, thinking that niggardly and denigrate might have a common root. Doesn't the "denigrate" meanings include "make small" or "make smaller"?
Consulting the Webster's, I see the above is wrong. In a nutshell, the literal meaning of denigrate is "to blacken". Their roots are apparently unrelated.
Well, anyhow, now you've gotten back at me, for the "alisonleeisme" incident, back then in Yahooland.
Thanks,
Moose
Added by edit: By the way, my debate with Terry, about the Grand Canyon, at the Talk Origins board, is continuing. It can be found here.

I notice that Syamsu, a previous poster on this board, has joined Terry's board. That should make for some tedious, circular discussions between them (esp. Syamsu, Terry and Salty) on the topic of natural selection if they don't agree to disagree at the first sign of a divergence of opinion. Creationists such as Terry are quick to grab any comment contrary to conventional evolutionary theory and ignore the inconsistency with their own religious beliefs.

"if anyone is interested in ACTUAL debate, without the name calling and denigration so prevalent here, you are free to come and join us. If you cannot debate without these tactics, save yourself time and embarrassment, and just stay here."
--Terry, I'm afraid that I must agree with the rest of this board that your moderative authority is highly biased, abused, and lacks in intellectual reasoning. There is credible debate taking place here which is carried out extremely well, unfortunately this rarely takes place on your board resulting from your abuse of power. I am a creationist and I wouldn't join your board because of these problems. If you have problems with name calling and other such extraneous jargon from whosoever may step into your pertinacious bubble, banning them without giving time to think it over isn't going to blow over well outside that precious bubble.

Or I would get banned for using the name Mammuthus...after all, large smelly, hairy elephantids are uncivil
Alas, I am up to my tusks in work so have little time to post here much less to get intentionally banned at another site.
Hopefully things clear up a bit soon so I can rejoin the fray
Cheers,
M

I probably should have commented on this in my previous post:
Terry writes:

ps - if anyone is interested in ACTUAL debate, without the name calling and denigration so prevalent here, you are free to come and join us. If you cannot debate without these tactics, save yourself time and embarrassment, and just stay here.
This is the Free For All forum, where anything goes. It is the only unmoderated forum at this site. It is also one of only two forums where registration is not required. As I mentioned earlier, there is a set of Forum Guidelines that are enforced in the other forums. I suggest you give those a read some time. And if you can learn the meaning of the word debunk I might even let you try your hand as moderator.
The only reason people are posting criticisms of you here is because you took away their voice there. From reading the posts at your site I can see that considerable time and effort has been invested by evolutionists in discussion with you, and that persisting in disagreeing with you results in banning for behavior that would be appropriate even in the Queen's presence, often followed by your creation of a revisionist history through the editing and deleting of various posts.
