This new topic has been promoted by AdminSylas. There was some debate as to whether it was acceptable under the guidelines against advertising. Discussion took place in the "Proposed New Topics" formum. See Message 3. It is a link to Creationist rap music. Welcome to EvCforum, DestinyLab.

Re: Thanks EVC
Do you have printed lyrics for any of your stuff? I am just way too old to tolerate rap at all well, DL. If not, which pieces are the most relevant to Evo/Cre discussions?

Duh! I didn't look down there. Thanks, Sylas!
Destiny Lab, I know you're new here, and you likely wrote those lyrics before reading much of the debate here. You can read it now, though, and if you choose to do so, you'll find that much of what you wrote has been thoroughly debunked here. Poke around here a day or two, and then let's discuss.

Be a little more specific. Yes I wrote all the lyrics. What lyrics are you talking about that have been "debunked?"

Re: Thanks EVC
What lyrics are you talking about that have been "debunked?"
I suppose that some of them could be excused by artistic license, but some are just plain false. Here's what I came up with:
quote:
EVER SEEN A HALF GIRAFFE KANGAROO WITH PENGUIN WINGS?
This betrays a fundamental misunderstanding of evolution. If such things were observed, that would be strong evidence against the theory of evolutiuon, which predicts gradual change and modification of existing structures.
quote:
OR FOSSILS THAT TRAVEL VERTICALLY
IN THE EARTHS CRUST
Usually called "polystrate fossils". Some are no such thing, the others are easily explained by conventional geology. See CC331, A Whale of a Tale, Soracilla defends the Flood? (mostly a "Joggins Polystrate Fossils" discussion) and Modern Sunken Forests Discredit Fossilization Argument.
quote:
10 TRILLION YEARS OF EVOLUTION
COULD NEVER ACCOUNT FOR THE CREATION THAT WE LIVE IN
Around here, that's called an "unsupported assertion". Bet you don't have any calculations to support that.
quote:
SOME SCIENTISTS DON’T REALLY KNOW
ANY MORE THAN YOUR MAMA
FIGHTING WITH EACH OTHER
LIKE SOME DRAMA FROM A SOAP OPERA
PSYCHO BABEL FROM THE MINDS OF GROWN MONKEYS
THERE DABBLING IN LIES
THERE NUTS LIKE JIF CHUNKY
Far overstating the amount and intensity of scientific disagreements (which are not evidence against evolution; they're one of the strengths of science), and an "ad hominem" attack (atacking the person instead of the person's argument).
quote:
NINETY EIGHT PERCENT OF PEOPLE CLAIM BELIEF IN GOD BUT ASKED IF THEY BELIEVE IN EVOLUTION THEY APPLAUD THAT’S CONTRADICTORY
THAT’S CALLED HYPOCRISY
Absolutely false. I bet the number of people who profess belief in a God is less than 98%, and the number of people who profess belief in the Christian God is less than 50% (world-wide) and far less than 98% in the United States.
Many people find no contradiction between believing in God and accepting the theory of evolution. Your lyrics insult these devout believers based on your opinion.
quote:
CREATION IS PROOF
This song takes a listener through the 7 days of creation according to the Bible. Creation proves that we obviously live on a planet that was invented by an Intellegent designer
This is called "begging the question" or "assuming the consequent". You assume that what your are trying to prove is true, and that's the proof. Re-telling the story of Genesis in different words is not proof of anything other than the ability to re-wrie Genesis.

Speaking as a Christian.
I find your lyrics laughable at best. If the message that you're trying to send is that Creationists are simply rubes without even a basic understanding of what they are talking about, then you are succeeding.
One other thing you should understand is that there is nothing in the TOE that is anti-GOD. The Theory of Evolution does show that the Creation Story as depicted in Genesis is wrong but that was pretty obvious long before Darwin wrote his book.
As a Christian, I believe you're trying to send the wrong message. Instead of trying to dumb down your audience, why not show them that an understanding of the Theory of Evolution will simply strengthen their faith in GOD and increase the awe of this universe?
You're not "Using God's Creation and our musical talent to reach people for Christ!" but rather denying people a chance to really look on some of GOD's greatest works.
I'm sorry if this offends you. You sound like a nice young kid if that's you on the recordings. But you are also displaying a woeful ignorance about the subject matter, Evolution, the Theory of Evolution and the Bible in your lyrics and theology.

I like the way you support evolution in some of your songs. I'm glad you agree with evolutionary biologists that humans are indeed primates (or "grown monkeys" as you put it).

Thanks for the replies!
Hey thanks for all your great replies and comments my friends. I do understand your points of view and have considered them. I believe
your dismay to my music and lyrics is in part to a misunderstanding of rap and hip hop music. This is not a science class here guys,LOL and I am not rapping toward intellecuals I am gearing toward teens.
Rap music is usually geared around sort of an in yer face and exagerated point of view to get a point across. Some of my lyrics are based around science, some are more just to get someone to get a laugh, or even anger. Some are convicted, and question there own hearts and beliefs. For others it may invoke discussion. It all depends on what ya believe on how your going to react. I feel this is the perfect type of music to develop discussion about God and Creation whatever your belief.
Of course many people are not going to agree. But many others really dig the music. That is sort of the point. To get a listener fired up enough that they may actually look in to and question there own belief system. That is my ultimate goal here, to reach people for Christ. The evolution thing is just a link in the chain.
You may disagree with certain aspects or lines in my songs, that is fine, I do not feel any of my lyrics are based on things that have been proven wrong or debunked. We all have the same evidence in front of us, the difference is how you interpret the evidence. I simply do not have enough trust in man to believe in evolution. I have chosen what I see to be the logical, and historical truth of the Bible.
In Christ I have faith in the truth he offers us through his salvation. I do not have to defend my faith. I have the truth within my heart....this is not something I am going to convince anyone of. God seeks man and convicts there hearts.
God Bless,
Destiny Lab

I don't see anything here that would make a Christian fundamentalist question their own belief system. If that was your aim you might consider writing pro-Hindu rap instead.

Normally we don't debate in "Links and Information" topics, but...
as I see it, why not let this one be the exception to the rule.

You probably did not listen or read all my songs. If you listen to 'One Soul' and to a 'Purpose Driven Mic', and 'Faith of a Mustard Seed.' All these songs have lyrics that convict Christians and non Christians alike.

Re: Normally we don't debate in "Links and Information" topics, but...
For those of you who don't really think that my music has an impact on people. Take a listen to 'Depressed' and 'Misunderstanding.' These are the 2nd and 3rd song that I have done with a ex-satanist.
I posted a link to my music in a forum a few months back and this guy approached me with a hateful demonic song called 'Evil to Good' that he had started and wanted me to finish. He was basically trying to call me out, and provoke me. I do not have posted on my site because of his vulgarity. (the link though is at the end of the lyrics of depressed) He finished half the song and sent me the beat. I finished it with my lyrics.
After now 3 songs I am now witnessing to this young man, and he has turned his heart from satanic belief to asking forgiveness from God in our third song. Praise GOD!!
God Bless,
Destiny Lab
