Let me just ask you this before you quit.
Was this type of debate less stressful for you?
Did the effect of not being "piled on" help?
What is your reason for wanting to quit now? Not interested anymore? Lack of specific knowledge? Is it something I said?

Probably but it's hard to tell. Our posts got ridiculously long and I got very far behind. I actually went to other threads to take a break. Then the other threads got maddening and I got fed up with the whole thing here. Temper got the best of me I guess, but I'm still ticked off.

I don't know.

Ticked off at the place in general and half a dozen posters and a couple of Admins in particular. Then you referred me back to your post which was already too long to read with two others yet to read, and I decided to throw in the towel.
But maybe I just need to calm down and come back later. I did have a direction I was trying to go in, but I don't know if I can get back to it.

Re: With regards to specifics.
Part of the reason for this thread existance is to try to make it easy for you. Remember that there are no time contraints. Yea the posts might get a little long but you can take your time, sit back, read them all, and then make one consolidated response. This practice of having to make a response to each quote of the other person can get kind of out of hand sometimes.
Let me know if you want to stay or not. I hope that my style of posting is a little less imposing and frustrating then the quagmire that some of your other threads have descended into. Even though our progression may seem small it is at least a progression. I am beginning to understand the questions you are asking and hopefully am providing progressivly clearer responses.
The best advice I can give is that this is not a chat room it is a message board. Take your time and don't let the flood of traffic overwhelm you. No one is going to feel abandoned if you take a week to respond. Better the responses be well thought out and articulate than frequent.
If you do decide to quit this thread. Thanks for engaging me up to this point.

FOX has a pretty good system they have cooked up. 10 mil people watch the show on the network, FOX. Then 5 mil, different people, tune into FOX News to get outraged by it. I just hope that those good, God fearing people at FOX continue to battle those morally bankrupt people at FOX.

Question as to intent to continue.
Some others in the peanut gallery thread have questioned both the scope of the debate plus your willingness to continue.
I stand by my statement that you can take as long as you need but could you please give us a sure fire yes or no as to your intent on continuing.
As for the scope. It seems like we have settled on some clear examples of exactly the type of erosion you were expecting to see. I provided a few and JonF provided more in the peanut gallery thread. If you want to simple reset and discuss something else with regards to old earth sedimentation principles then we can do that too. It was also suggested that we limit our discussion to a specific example. Perhaps we can direct the tread to why the GC in particular does not contain some of these drastic features. Perhaps you have another related claim you want to explore. Either way, if you do want to continue, lets make sure to define what we are talking about clearly.
I'll bump this post until we get a response from you as to how you would like to proceed.

Re: Question as to intent to continue.
Yes, I expect to continue eventually, but I need more inspiration than I have at the moment as my mind is elsewhere, so it will take time to get back to it. Thanks if the time really doesn't matter.
Also I wasn't aware of the peanut gallery thread. Where is it?

Faith writes in Message 240:
Faith writes:
If that's how you want to do it. But remember I got into the Great Debate on others' suggestions as it seemed the best way to deal with the piling-on problem. In other words, I didn't enter it with a clear understanding of the intention of a Great Debate, merely as a way of dealing with the previous problems, so I was far from having any ducks lined up for the purpose. But it's your call. I am sure I will again connect with the issues there but I don't want to go back to it uninspired.
Since Faith gives no indication of when she will resume the discussion I will close this thread. We now open it up to the peanut gallery at Peanut Gallery for the Faith/Jazzns Great Debate.

Re: bump
Like I said before, if Faith wants to debate with patience, understanding, and clarity I still hold to my original offer. I don't know how she feels about that though since she seemd so angry for how she was treated for some reason at the closing of this thread.
I guess we will have to ask her what she wants to do. I would also be willing to hand the baton off to someone else. rox expressed interest when this thread first got off the ground. I am sure if we just asked there might be a bunch of folk willing to take over. This is of course all depends on what Faith wants. I have no interest in debating with someone who does not want to debate in good faith with me.

Re: bump
Well, now I can get onto the thread.
Not angry at all. You catastrophize ordinary words, such as "threaten" which in context of closing a thread has no dire overtones or implications. However, I've agreed to debate, and doubting my good faith is a bad start. I'm not going to post here until I get caught up on my work and pull away from some of the other threads and review this one and the peanut gallery first. OK? Let's start between us and if you want to hand off the baton at some point we agree on that's OK too, but we have to agree on it at that point.

Re: bump
Look, other fighting aside I will try my best to stick to my original purpose for even wanting to debate with you about this. No pressure, no time limits, honest debate.
Lets just forget the past and start fresh. With regards to catching up on the stuff you might have missed when this was closed, take a look at the examples I listed previously in the GC of island topography. Others posted good examples of river and other topography buried in the geologic column. With all simplicity, the large erosional deformations which you said you expected to exist if millions of years of erosion had happened do actually exist.
From here I can see us going in one of a few directions. I would like to know what a scientific explanation for those features would be given a young earth. Then there are the layers without erosional surfaces which you have expressed a problem with. It would be good to rehash what your understanding of how those form is according to mainstream geology. Then we can see if that actually matches what mainstream geology says to make sure we are on the same page about what the theory actually is.
