Re: Operative Mechanism of Faith
Just curious: Do you have objective evidence that believers in the gospel are
mindless
robotic
morons?
Yes, here
Or do you merely impose your own prejudice that anyone who believes in it is these things by definition?
'are' these things. I didn't say 'anyone', just a certain type.
Not quite sure how to test for mindlessness though
It's easy, ask someone if they believe that the Bible is 100% accurate in everything it claims. If they say 'yes' then bingo.
Do you have IQ statistics for believers in the gospel of Christ to compare to
I am afraid that they failed to register on the assessment scale. They weren't able to think for themselves and just sat there praying for help.
But it is good to have doubts about things you believe in, makes your faith stronger I hear, or destroys it. It must take a very brave person to question things, good luck to the guy.
Brian.

Sorry...subject of the verb is the singular "anyone"...."is" is correct (starting to sound like Clinton...augh..what next...dubya?) I would hope you are not implying that Faith is of lesser intelligence because she messed up on her verbs....which she didn't.

Re: Operative Mechanism of Faith
Faith is talking about anyone who believes in the Gospel, I am not talking about 'anyone' who believes in the Gospel, i am talking about a particular type.
I would hope you are not implying that Faith is of lesser intelligence because she messed up on her verbs....which she didn't.
Im not implying anything about Faith. I am sure that she is a very intelligent lady.
Brian.

Thank you, I'm sure, but then your mocking Message 47 is a non-contribution to/obfuscation of/detraction from the topic, and merely continues -- or perhaps escalates -- the trend of your earlier posts which admin already suggested were anything but constructive.

Non seq, AP, since unlike the convener of this symposium here, I DON'T "have doubt in my religion."
yes. but.
my point is that i know you often feel like people here are attacking your religion, and trying to convince someone away from theirs is a bit of a double standard.
especially since the op's doubt was in the CHURCH and the organized religion, not his faith.

ugh.
well this thread has gone to hell in a handbasket. i guess the moral of the story is to never bump an old thread to encourage somebody.
people, i don't think we should be trashing each other's faiths here. just cut it out, all of you.
