Well, I guess that it is good news that the administration hasn't screwed up quite as badly as originally thought.
HaHa. That's somewhat close to a concession and is good as it ever gets in support of conservative viewpoints on this forum. You should be happy with this remark Tal. Of course, Chiroptera didn't post without sarcasm, still...

Hello Chiroptera,
Your concession, which you qualified, is that the $100 Billion is good news. That's all. Stop there. It's good news.
Without saying what it should have been, who is responsible, how the deficit came to be reduced despite Bush's policies or what is wrong with everything else in the world and especially with what the hated Bush henchmen are doing today to destroy the world, there is a tiny, microscopic, ensy teeny, tidbit of fleeting good news about the budget. Just a smidgen.
Ok, it's gone now, back to Bush bashing.
BTW: No offense at all at the sarcasm, Holmes keeps me busy with that.

I guess I read a little more into the OP than just the $100 billion was good news.
True, there's more there. My point without getting into specifics, is that good news is good news regardless of the cause. Sometimes that gets overlooked in the grind to condemn Bush.
Anyway, I may have joked around with you some before, but I've never meant anything as a personal insult. As long as everything is cool.
Cool

Holmes at it again
Holmes writes:
So when a plane crash involving your entire family is projected to yield no survivors, and it turns out one member has managed to pull through as a quadraplegic near vegetable, you think: "good news"?
No, that's not good news, it's bad news. There is no shortage of bad news. For the "cup is half empty" crowd, there is no such thing as good news. (Except a Hilary win in '08)
Holmes writes:
I am giving a little plug for my total and complete public depantsing of Monk. I didn't even have to use witty rejoinders, just documented proof of his errancy using a source he pretended to be knowledgable of, in order to smear an innocent man. The first post is more serious and necessary to read than the second, if you must choose between the two.
At it again eh Holmes? You just can't resist tooting your own horn. You just can't help but advertise yourself. Why don't you let readers decide for themselves?
Giving yourself a little plug? Ha, that's an understatement. You can't help it, it feeds your insecurity. Sad
But your tactics have been exposed here
You were also treated to your very own special can of Whoopass here
Followed by, The Public Flagellation of Holmes here

Re: Holmes at it again
come on! you were hammered out of the park. why don't you actually read the report and try and mount some form of comeback?
To Holmes followers, anything he does seems glorious. Why don't you post something of substance instead of a two sentence reply in support of your fearless leader.

Re: Holmes at it again
Okay, it's a big plug. This actually doesn't have to do with my insecurity though. I am sort of proud of what I did, and I would like to make sure people know it is there and so increase the likelihood of people seeing it.
Don't worry Holmes, your loyal followers on this forum will herald you with joy. It really doesn't matter what you say, you'll still be their hero.
Sometimes I get noticed for stuff I wasn't really excited by myself, while things I liked get no notice.
Getting noticed is real important for you, I can see that. You seem to need that don't you.

This is totally OT. Do not respond to this.

Re: Holmes at it again
Yes, the debt is a substantial amount and it has drawn my attention. I've commented on the deficit.

Re: Biggish Deficit
You have? Oh good. Which thread was that in?
I had a few comments about the Federal Deficit in this post under item 5
quote:
I don’t begrudge spending for the war effort and despite the huge deficit, we must complete that mission. But there needs to be more restraint. Republicans no longer talk about balancing the budget. The deficit is out of control and will be a significant albatross for Republicans in ’08.
