Reading Seventeen magazine in high school was asking for it. Seventeen was for girls in late elementary / early middle school, the ones who were convinced they needed to act and look older.
​
Cosmo was the mag of choice in high school, again for the girls that wanted to "seem" older (which is all girls).
​
My 18 year old daughter agrees with this.
