Hurricane Katrina

Why can't FEMA fly in supplies and drop them off to them? The crisis doesn't appear to be handled very well.I live pretty far away and have considered going there with a buddy and a boat and supplies to help out, but not so sure about getting there from the JAX area.

Maybe because Bush has been busy phasing out FEMA in favor of an as-yet-nonexistent divison of the Dept. of Homeland Security.

If God is all powerful, and hurricanes are his weapon of choice against gays, how come he hasn't hit San Fran with a hurricane?Don't give me that, earthquakes here, hurricanes there crap. He's the almighty, he should be able to do a hurricane in the middle of Africa if he wants to

I guess God hates black people?Hell, there's about 3-6 countries in Europe that allow gay marriage. Fred Phelps would have us believe, how come the hurricane hit the gay-hating American south (aka Jesusland) and not one of the myriad queer-loving countries of Europe, where they really let all that stuff hang out? (Anti-homosexual slurs used in jest, of course.)

There was a well-known prophet who prophesied a year ago in Baton Rouge about the "winds and water" from the south that would change New Orleans, have people lying on their faces crying out to God, but it seems the evil most preached against was false leadership in the Church, not homosexuality. The word though is interesting because in context it is a word of great hope and blessing that would come from this. It's not so much mentioned as a judgement of God, though in one sense it is because it states how it would bring change and holiness, but is really about an awakening, especially in the African-American churches and community in Louisiana and that part of country.He repeatedly warned in the word to prepare "The WIND and WATER will rise in the midst of New Orleans. Many from the south will come north for refuge. Prepare. Prepare now for winds and water that will surprise you.....Prepare! Prepare! Prepare! Shift! Saul will be no more. David will arise from this day forward. The wind from the south will begin to blow. Watch for the effects. This will purify the land and bring great change."I can see how some might scoff at this and think it's vague, but for those with ears to hear, sometimes great things can come from terrible beginnings.

Let's see...that would be around the time forecasters were telling us 2004 was bad but 2005 would be worse?

Some are suggesting that once a storm reaches Cat 5 near land, the storm surge is on, even if the storm weakens later. In other words, Miss. got a Cat 5 storm surge and a Cat 4 storm. Houston is becoming a major refugee camp, and there is a little spill- over of lawlessness. All these people are trying to get into the Astrodome who are not supposed to go, according to the "rules." Supposed to be only for the people from the Superdome.

It does seem to be badly handled but it's hard to be sure. I hope someone explains it soon. I'm sure supplies are on the way, just because the country is concerned and donating to the cause.
