Re: Enough tooling around...
What is the purpose of science?
It seems like you think the purpose of science is to find truth. But I completely disagree. Science cannot tell us about truth. It can only help us create models of the world we observe. Those models help us manipulate the world.
Not truth, fact. "Truth" in my mind is something like wisdom. It's "True" that "Love conquers all".
Science can help us manipulate the world, but it can also help us explain the world. It can tell us cause and effect, for example. It can help us predict events based on data we observe.
As for Occam's Razor and the "Truth".
The statement "I know my theories to be true" is the basis on which I will fundamentally reject any suggestion that counters my theory. It's really quite simple, and apparently totally fair.
If you reject my truth, expect to get banned.
Now, back to the game -- I wanna hear some Crack pot theories outta you, Ben! I won't be satisfied until you make up at least one.

Re: POP goes the weasel?
Uniformism, as I am using it, means that what we observe today is the same processes that were in effect in the past, and are the same we expect to see in the future.
For example - If I kick a ball today, it goes forward. I would expect that if I had kicked a ball yesterday it would have done the same, and if I were to kick a ball tomorrow it would also go forward.
But, can we say that uniformism was in effect in the distant past when none of us were around? That's just an assumption.
All of science is built on that assumption, and therefore it's a house of cards. If uniformism is not true, then a great deal of popping could have happened in the past, and none of it may be happening today.

Re: Divine Pusher
Is it possible to push the pusher? I like to push things that are annoying.
I will answer this question in good faith, though I assume you have been pushed flat for just asking it.
No, nothing pushes the pusher. Is something could push the pusher, then they would be the pusher and the one we now call the pusher would just be some sort of "assistant pusher".

Re: Enough tooling around...
Fair enough.. but I'm going to post this post to you on another thread... or maybe open a new thread. And I demand a REAL answer then.
I'll get you a crackpot theory in the morning. It's gonna blow your mind pal. And rest assured, THIS man (starting at 33 seconds) is going to have a LARGE roll in MY theory man.
See? My theory ALREADY kicks ass--it requires Windows Media Player. And I'm just getting started...

I think Steppenwolf made a song about The Pusher sometime back in the 70s.
Oh wait! That pusher was some kind of drug dealer. Sorry my mistake. carry on.
PS don't pay any attention to the heading that says it came from the 90s. That is just hype from the A-Pushers out there.

ehy
You have repeatedly started threads, saying here is a point, can anyone vouch for it? Or here is a point that I disagree with, can anyone prove it wrong, are there any conservatives out there? Hello?
I see less about you than I do about the people you disagree with in matters of faith, and science. I guess people start out this way, I probably did the same stuff back when I first joined.
I don't know, it's like you would rather "hate on" people's answers than find the answer yourself.

empathy is non-existant as we reign terror on others

Re: ehy
I have answers. I've presented three of them here.
You have just descided to discard them out of hand and attack me personally.
That's your perogative, I guess. Doesn't seem like you're make much of a point of your own in the process though

Re: Divine Pusher
Is the pusher a natural or supernatural being? If the pusher is supernatural, then how can something outside of nature and natural processes affect natural phenomena? It would be like what we think of as a ghost moving a solid object. If a ghost (your pusher) has no mass, then how can it affect anything else with mass? It would have to have some sort of mass to act through acceleration to cause a force (F=m*a). If the pusher does not use a force to push, then what does the pusher use?
Also, we were not around for The Flood, so how do you know how or if it even happened?
How do I pray to this pusher in order to realize the true nature of the pusher? Will the pusher communicate with me by sending me visions or crushing me like a grape?
I spit on your pusher! If the pusher has a problem with that, then...wait, I feel some emense...pressure, oh, wait, that is just a stress headache from work. Oh, my pusher, why must you punish me. I am sorry I ever doubted you. By the way, can you pop a hot, buxom blonde into existence for me? I promise to be good!

Re: Divine Pusher
re: Natural vs Supernatural
This depends on the usages of the words. It seems like you are using "natural" to encompass everything in the known physical world and Supernatural to mean everything outside the known physical world.
I would answer that the pusher is a natural being, though one we can not observe. Much like the alleged "germs" I've heard so much about, except bigger.
What force does the pusher use? The force of will. For his divine will can push or not push all that he chooses.
As for the Flood, obviously it happened. Duh! Where do you think puddles come from? Heathen!
As for praying to the pusher. We must all seek out our own personal relationship with the pusher.

Re: Divine Pusher
But we can see "germs". By using electon microscopy, light microscopy, staining techniques, etc. We can also determine the infectious nature of "germs" by using Koch's postulates. So, we can detect, see, and predict the nature of "germs" or whatever you want to call pathogens.
If the pusher is natural, then the pusher should be detectable. Unless, of course, you are saying that we do not have the technology to detect the pusher yet! Something that has that much power in nature should be detectable, even with our primative means. There must be a way to detect the being in ways other than how it supposedly acts in the universe. The pusher would leave a mark of its physical existence, like subatomic particles passing through a sheet of carbon or gold or whatever scientists use.
I have been praying non-stop, even while I type, and I have not been blessed with a sign. The headache is better, though. Although my legs feel heavy and I have a ringing in the ears. Oh, pusher, I await your divine, but natural, sign! Please hear me!!!

oh, hogwash. you don't honestly think that any of those techniques have any accuracy or relevance, do you? they're clearly fabrications designed to lead god's loyal followers into temptation.
