Re: avatar pop up
Run a spyware detection program. You have spyware. Go get SpyBlaster or AdAware, my son.
...
Jar, parse the sentence like this:

Re: Request for clarification and advice
Thank you for the explanation. Wouldn't it make sense to add this to the list of frequently asked questions?

Re: Request for clarification and advice
We'll be looking at that and other housekeeping issues over the next little while. It's more a function of plugging dyke holes right now but revising things like the FAQ is certainly on the list somewhere.

I tried to post in reply in the THE EGG CAME FIRST thread etc.
EvC Forum: The egg came first
The post appears there. Not knowing I guess I double posted.
But the ALL TOPICS page did not move it up and make the change visible as it usually does . Is the chat to blame??

I doubt that it is related to chat.
The main page shows only 74 messages in that thread. But yours is 76. The index for your own postings does show that.
message 76 seems to be empty. Maybe that confused the software.

Maybe there is a hanging lock on the egg thread.
When I posted a "bump", my browser hung waiting for a response. The
bump is posted. Probably some control info was not updated, and that
hints at a hung lock

still having probs/cant respond to cal
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, admin@ and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Apache/2.0.50 (Fedora) Server at Port 80
I know I did not send it twice. After the internal server error. I previewed it. It came up real fast, I added ONE word and resent. It is still "sending". ??

Re: still having probs/cant respond to cal
What you describe is similar to what happened to me with my "bump" post yesterday. I posted. The browser hung. In another window, I determined that the post had been successful, so I hit the STOP button in the original window. If I had done a RELOAD, it probably would have posted a second time.
It looks as if your post was successful as Message 79, but hung in the way I described. And now you have also an empty Message 80 in that thread.
I'm still guessing that this is a hung lock. Maybe there is a hung process somewhere that needs killing by someone with root access to the server.

Re: still having probs/cant respond to cal
P it worked fine until I tried to edit it a third time. Perhaps without your message to not edit to0 fast there is some problem. The edit is recieved but the process still seems to be hung up from the perspective on my machine. I am now going to stop it. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++submitting this post caused it stop on its own with the internal server error message.
