is it just me or is the board being major slow lately?
anyways. i suggest we make a coding page for the intolerably stupid. we must make the internet safe. since i'm sure percy wouldn't go for a pre-posting quiz to check for idiots. 80% required for passing.

And why you think you take a Ho to a Ho-tel
Ho-tell everybody, even the mayor
Reach up in the sky for the Ho-zone layer
Now C'mon playa wants a Ho always
And Ho's neva close, they open like hallways

It isn't just you, see Bug Reporting Thread. Only some people are experiencing slow page delivery, so it seems possible that one of the sort-of common Internet routes to EvC Forum is overloaded. Someone mentioned Cogentco as a possibility, so you might want to check if it's in your path to here.

Quick comment
Commenting here, to avoid going off topic in referenced thread

i must say, i'm losing faith in this whole "peer reviewed" thing.
peer review is imperfect, as is any other human endeavour.
No need to lose faith. Just learn to recognize the limitations. Treat peer review as a first filter. You then have to apply your own second filter.

Nuggin and Randman Great Debate
Can we have an open-to-everyone thread for us to comment and/or discuss in parallel on this debate (I think 'peanut gallery' is the commonly used term)?

I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then

I agree it's poor. Unfortunately, peer reviewers are often unpaid volunteers who have other demands on their time. It's hard to avoid that, if you want the best people serving as referees.

Re: Nuggin and Randman Great Debate
I think 'peanut gallery' is the commonly used term
Or maybe the term is kibbitzing.
I'm not sure it's a good idea.
I understand how you feel, noticing that some issue has been missed and wanting to mention it. But then, instead of a one-on-one debate it becomes a 10 on one.
It might be better to wait till it is finished, and then open a thread for comments by others.
That's my opinion. Let's see if some other admins want to add their voices.

Re: Nuggin and Randman Great Debate
I was trying to figure out if a peanut gallery was worthwhile as well...
Personally I find it interesting that randman chose a topic that he had already discussed to death here, and it appears he is making the same arguments, even though they were well-countered before.
I wonder if Nuggin knows about that other thread...

Re: Nuggin and Randman Great Debate
I alluded to those threads, and you are welcome to e-mail nuggins if you want.
How about something that never seemed to get resolved awhile back, the historical and present use of evolutionist claims of embryonic evidence for ToE.
Imo, the issue was not resolved because of confusion among the many evos of what had been posted and not posted. Admittedly, it could be better for the evo-side to debate something else, as I really think there is no argument or valid excuse for such forgeries and false claims being used so prominently.

I don't know if you meant that to be funny or not - but it was! All randman does is make the same arguments over and over again completely oblivious to any attempt to engage in actual debate.
Actually the more I've watched randman the more I've come to think of him as a kind of shell game flim-flam artist. He entices people in to play the game with a glimmer of proper debate before the real game starts and he falls back into sleight of hand to avoid ever adressing real points while repeatedly throwing out his usual crap about pakicetus is not a whale, Haeckel drawings still being used and so on.

I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then
