Re: Brownie deliberates long to find answers

All that is now smoke and mirrors: keep your eye on the money.
No-bid contracts worth hundred of millions, and, soon, billions, have already been awarded to Republican cronies' companies, the same companies that cannot keep the lights on in Iraq. Environmental regulations have been waived; prevailing wage laws have been suspended, though one would think that nothing could help the devastated working class in that region more than decent wages. Lessee, this will help: we'll extra-pollute you and cut your wages, okay?
Brownie was in the Club, so Brownie's fall has to be cushioned. The notion of employing Brownie to suss out what went wrong smacks of Karl Rove's deviant mind: brilliant, in a sleazy kinda way.
Hundreds of mercenaries, U.S., Israeli, etc., employees of the same "security firms" that are fattening on Iraq, were among the first armed responders in NO. Private thugs, armed with automatic weapons, cruising the streets of a devastated American city in black SUVs without plates.
Does that picture bother you? It depresses me and meets my expectations.
Bush offers a thousand NO refugees a chance to homestead on federal lands in the NO area, but there are tens of thousands of apartments/condos sitting empty in NO because rent levels were down, and landlords preferred boarding up to renting down.
Prediction: New Orleans will become a right-wing social experiment. Most of the impoverished residents will never return. Here is an irresistible chance to change the color of that colorful city.
