"In the News" is much like the "Book Nook" forum: - Feel free to post your related news items - Feel free to discuss the news items that get posted
These news items should be things related to the creation / evolution debate: new scientific findings, articles about ID, education and creation / evolution news, etc. Government issues, hurricane issues and the like should still be put in the Coffee House. In the meantime, I'll try and sort through some of the Coffee House threads and to move appropriate existing threads to this new forum
I'm going to keep everything pretty flexible to start with and see how things go. I'll update here if I think anything needs to change!
Since we have a "Cosmology" forum, I think it's related (enough) to the creation / evolution debate to include. So, yes, let's put 'em in there!
Just to be clear, I'm not looking to create an authorative "archive" of news stories on any particular topic; just to have a forum where people can post and discuss news items they find interesting. We just haven't had a specific place to do it; now we do!
Thanks for the question berberry.

I've begun moving some relevant threads to the "In The News" forum. Sorry for the mess it's making. I'll do a few more in the "off-hours" (i.e. I'm willing to sacrifice the European's viewing pleasure to appease the Americans here ;))
Thanks for the idea. It's a valid concern. So far, I haven't run across this happening.
In the worst case, if somebody claims that some new item is off-topic simply because it's not in the same forum as the thread they're currently writing, you can always copy / paste the link of the original news item. Since the link to the original news item is always an external source, hopefully the poster will actually go and read the content and determine from that whether the news item is on topic or not.
If you do see this pop up, please let me know either here (in this thread) or via email.
