...and he definitely picks up on some of the words and phrases I use. For instance, if I say something about Bush he knows I might get carried away in anger, so he'll run over and look at me with sad eyes as though he feels sorry for me. If he hears me on telephone saying something like "I'll be on over" he'll run up next to me and stand at attention, waiting for me to put his halter on so we can go.
Whenever I need to go somewhere I can't take him, I say "I've gotta go to work". He knows that means he can't go, and he'll go somewhere away from me but where I can see him, then lie down and look sulky.
Our local outlet mall is hosting a Halloween costume contest for dogs in a couple weeks and I plan to enter Pepper. I think I'm gonna dress him up the way he is in my avatar. That's a leather Harley-Davidson jacket he's wearing along with the sunshades. I think I'll try to find a small bandana to tie around his neck. A friend suggested a black leather cap but I dunno. I'm not sure it'd add anything to the biker theme since bikers wear helmets.
