What does present-day science theorize about emotions, as to what causes them and why?
Example feelings being anger (with subs like jealousy or pride), sadness (depression, rejection, etc.), happiness (a feeling of acceptance or accomplishment, etc.), nervousness, deja vu, and nostalgia.

Can you clarify just a lil bit?
Hi, Drew! Welcome to EvC. I am interested in your topic, but I have a hard time combining emotions and science into one topic.
Websters writes:
sci”ence \"s-ns\ n [ME, fr. MF, fr. L scientia, fr. scient-, sciens having knowledge, fr. prp. of scire to know] 1 : an area of knowledge that is an object of study; esp : natural science 2 : knowledge covering general truths or the operation of general laws especially as obtained and tested through the scientific method ” sci”en”tif”ic \'s-n-"ti-fik\ adj ” sci”en”tif”i”cal”ly \-fi-k(-)l\ adv ” sci”en”tist \"s-n-tist\ n
emo”tion \i-"m—-shn\ n : a usu. intense feeling (as of love, hate, or despair) ” emo”tion”al \-sh-nl\ adj ” emo”tion”al”ly adv
Are you suggesting some of what this website suggests? There are some interesting points of view on your topic here.
Also....some of our science moderators may have some helpful hints for you. Hold tight, and we will work through this thing....and I am glad that you show interest in EvC topics!

I'm sorry, I made the same mistake with my first topic, too.
When I clicked your link, it directed me to a 'site unavailable' page, but I do think I've found a better way to phrase my question: What are some ways (that people have heard, or know, or can prove) that emotions can be scientifically explained?

Are you interested in how science explains the evolution of emotion, or how science studies emotion in the first place?
If the former, then this should go in Biological Evolution.
If the latter, then Misc. Topics.
Either way, it should be specified in the OP.
