gay rights issues NOT in the news.
Texas: Prop. 2 defines marriage as between a man and a woman.
(npr.org)
now. i've heard it passed but god help me i can't find it in the news...
coffee shop. i don't want to get into a debate of the issue. especially not the "morality" issue. but yeah. maybe so much that it's not news scares me. i'd think that bush would be screaming it to help show his victories in spite of the whole plame issue and the hell it's created. so what if it's not really so bad a thing for them? that's really scary.
also: hear anything about this?
Maine: Question 1 would repeal a law passed this year that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
this was defeated.
i didn't find any of this except on npr. nowhere.

Re: gay rights issues NOT in the news.
The humorous side of Proposition 2 is that, if you read the text of the measure as it was written, any marriage at all is now without any legal status here in Texas.
SECTION 1. Article I, Texas Constitution, is amended by adding Section 32 to read as follows:
Sec. 32. (a) Marriage in this state shall consist only of the union of one man and one woman.
(b) This state or a political subdivision of this state may not create or recognize any legal status identical or similar to marriage.
Don't you kinda think that "other" should have been in there before "legal?" Don't you think it would be amusing to bring action against a county clerk for violating the state constitution the next time she issues a marriage license? The most amazing thing to me is that it only passed by a 3:1 ratio - I guessed 9:1 the day before the vote. We must not have as many bigots as I thought.
ABE: Gay marriage ban approved
