I introduced a former client to the classics, at his request.
Knowing that I don't 'hear' jazz, he sent me the Brubeck CD (Time Out, etc.) and asked I listen to it at least twice. I was on nearly familiar ground with the Rondo a la Turk, the rest was gibberish to me. Jarring every nerve in my bod, I didn't have the heart to tell him. He took to the classics as a duck would ..... etc.

You were speaking of chemicals and romance recently and I agree or it would not be called chemistry. (With pheromoans the most important, IMHO). IMHO chemicals also play an important role in music likes and dislikes, and in everything pertaining to human life.I'm short a chem or two, therefore, I don't like jazz. We need more smilies.
