i take stupid pictures and try not to lose my mind. i like reading math theory books and starting to write stupid books that will never be finished cause i'll get tired of how predictable and horrid i think my writing is.
i'm addicted to nail polish and i'm horribly clumsy. i burned myself on the oven yesterday making a pizza... two inch burn on the back of my hand.

i think it's mostly that they get in the way of assholes with big trucks. it happens to cars too, but since a bike is smaller, it has a kind of a red herring effect. they think that the vehicle size determines the worth of a person.

omg you guys are so painfully off topic.
besides. you judging him ecause of his drinking habits is so puritan. i'm a heavy drinker, but i still keep a job and go to school and live well enough. values are values. if someone can't press his values of gays being chosen sinners then you can't press yours of drinkers being the same.

Yeah, and you don't come across like a very happy person, either, and neither does robin.
You both seem depressed and negative a lot of the time. haha joke's on you. i'm the most hopeful, chipper person you'll ever meet. i'm not disgustingly cheerful, but i get the job done. just goes to show how well text transfers feeling when feeling isn't being discussed. also, don't use either and neither in the same sentence. it's painful. not all heavy drinkers are alcoholics. there is a difference defined by need.

i did not define need as physical. but either way, your distinction is invalid.
chemical dependence is a result of the brain's demand for a specific reaction caused by the substance. this results in both physical and emotional reactions.

good job. you're affirming what i said and telling me i'm wrong.
want to know what psychology says? it says alcohol abuse and dependance is no different than that of any other drug.psychoactive drugs affect the brain in specific ways. they cause receptors to behave differently. this creates chemical changes in the brain. the brain's chemistry causes its emotions. thus, your distinction between physical and emotional addiction is superfluous and mistaken. The American Psychiatric Association has developed strict criteria for the clinical diagnosis of abuse and dependence. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual”IV (DSM-IV) defines abuse as: * A maladaptive pattern of substance use leading to clinically significant impairment or distress, as manifested by one (or more) of the following, occurring within a 12-month period:1. recurrent substance use resulting in a failure to fulfill major role obligations at work, school, home (e.g., repeated absences or poor work performance related to substance use; substance-related absences, suspensions, or expulsions from school; neglect of children or household) 2. recurrent substance use in situations in which it is physically hazardous (e.g., driving an automobile or operating a machine when impaired by substance use) 3. recurrent substance-related legal problems (e.g., arrests for substance-related disorderly conduct) 4. continued substance use despite having persistent or recurrent social or interpersonal problems caused or exacerbated by the effects of the substance (e.g., arguments with spouse about consequences of intoxication, physical fights) * The symptoms have never met the criteria for Substance Dependence for this class of substances. [DSM-IV, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, ed. 4. Washington DC: American Psychiatric Association (AMA). 1994.] Most often, abuse is diagnosed in individuals who recently began using alcohol. Over time, abuse may progress to dependence. However, some alcohol users abuse alcohol for long periods without developing dependence. Dependence is suspected when alcohol use is accompanied by signs of the following: * Abuse* Compulsive drinking behavior * Tolerance * Withdrawal DSM-IV defines dependence as: * A maladaptive pattern of substance use, leading to clinically significant impairment or distress, as manifested by three (or more) of the following, occurring at any time in the same 12-month period:1. tolerance, as defined by either of the following: o a need for markedly increased amounts of the substance to achieve intoxication or desired effect o markedly diminished effect with continued use of the same amount of substance 2. withdrawal, as manifested by either of the following: o the characteristic withdrawal syndrome for the substance o the same (or a closely related) substance is taken to relieve or avoid withdrawal symptoms 3. the substance is often taken in larger amounts or over a longer period than was intended 4. there is a persistent desire or unsuccessful efforts to cut down or control substance use 5. a great deal of time is spent in activities to obtain the substance, use the substance, or recover from its effects 6. important social, occupational or recreational activities are given up or reduced because of substance use 7. the substance use is continued despite knowledge of having a persistent or recurrent physical or psychological problem that is likely to have been caused or exacerbated by the substance (e.g., continued drinking despite recognition that an ulcer was made worse by alcohol consumption) [DSM-IV, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, ed. 4. Washington DC: American Psychiatric Association (AMA). 1994.] i apologize for the ridiculous web source, but i have yet to go out and buy a dsm iv since i'm not a psych major and google only can help so much. psychology doesn't regard alcoholism as existing. it is only defined as alcohol abuse. it is the lay society that named alcoholism.
it doesn't matter why people abuse a substance, simply that they do.

and i'm telling you that some people drink because they like drinking. i really really just like the taste of irish car bombs. i really like a good czech pilsner. i really just like asti.
i'm not depressed or escaping my problems or angry or not contributing to society. and really, who are you to suggest such things simply because i drink? i also don't wear makeup and don't eat much. do i have diagnosable poor body image leading no doubt to eating disorders? nope. just lazy.
