Re: Clarification Statement
Hi, Wm, seems to me the fringe-dwellers get more strident as time passes. Not being honest enough to apologise for persistent canards on their websites, straw-men that have been refuted over and over, they lurch after anything they think might fly. Even the so-called 'specials' on TV are a mishmash of lies and mis-representations. If religion has to resort to such devices to maintain membership or attract new believers, it must be in worse shape than I thought. The fact that there is no combined move to clean out their respective houses, shows how far from the original concepts they have drifted. When lies become their main means of refuting challenges, when crackpot theories are the chief weapon in their armoury, the cupboard must be growing bare. I`d give more credence to a Christian who had the courage to say 'We were wrong'.

Curious then that Roman Catholicism isn't the loudest denomination in the US.

just behind the times
The Vatican is always behind the times. The fact evos are quoting them in defense of ToE is quite telling.

we just find it funny that the organization responsible for the dark ages is lightyears ahead of creationism.
if you're behind the people who are behind the times...

The Catholic Church
Well, the catholic church's actions (and, just in case you didn't know I'm not a catholic) are very commendable. I mean, you can either listen to the Pope's chief astronomer (and there is a conservative pope) and think that he's just saying stuff to get attention, or to fold in the poker game vs. evolution. But then, if you want a real example of someone who says dumb stuff to get attention, just watch the 700 club for 2 minutes.
And really, I'm a proponent of the whole "we're all in the matrix" theory in Kansas. Now that the Kansas Board of Education has done what they've done, my cause can start to really get some Matrix classes in schools. Yay! Or, you know, we could start to learn about how the world was created by a flying spaghetti monster! The possibilities are endless...

Christians are funny. They seem to be following the Republican rule of not ever criticizing another Christian in public, even though they are a crazy lunatic that you don't agree with.
Because, hey, at least we are both anti-abortion.
...or something like that.

Either that, or they work on the assumption that, if they reveal the dark secrets of another sect, the attacked might expose their skeletons in the closet.
