Re: that was awsome
Quite different to the English pint, a bit sharper but a cleaner, more distinct taste
And three times the price!!

Re: that was awsome
It just occurred to me that if sewage water wasn't recycled for human use then despite the recycling of other waste water for human use (sinks, showers etc) none of that water will have gone through a human body. It's probably just a myth then

Re: that was awsome
Spoken like a true scotsman. But your right, Ireland has gone bananas on cost of living in recent times. I've had a young foreign couple move in next door to me the other day. They're here to work for a few years to get enough money to start on a house back at home. The high wages were the attraction. They're from Barcelona...which used to considered a pricey holiday destination 10 years ago....
We're all wondering when the wheels are going to fall off the wagon

Hi,
Spoken like a true scotsman.
Well, it does mean that I have more pennies for whisky I can get a pint of Guinness in Falkirk for 1.59, if I wish to slum it I can get a pint for 1.39.
We're all wondering when the wheels are going to fall off the wagon
It is getting on the wagon that I have difficulty with!
But, joking aside, Ireland, especially Dublin, has always been a big holiday attraction for Scots, but the prices are becoming ridiculous, and coupled with that smoking ban nonsense (I dont smoke), I can see it becoming less attractive in the future.
Brian.

Particulars of Guinness
It probably won't taste better overall because Guinness doesn't travel that well. You have to go to some strange little dank pits in Dublin to get the best Guinness.
I'm from East Anglia and Adnams doesn't taste right anywhere else, especially London.

Re: Particulars of Guinness
Like the Avatar. Pity we suck right now
I was talking to an Irish friend of mine about Guinness, he reckons that Guinness varies so much between pubs it's ridiculous to talk about Irish Guinness being better than English. He also reckons that the main difference is that in Ireland, so many pints are poured a night it never gets to sit in the pipes like it does in England.
Personally, the only stuff I really object to is that damnable extra cold stuff.
Incidently, Arthur Guinness got the idea for Guinness from London and then went back to Dublin and perfected it.

Re: Particulars of Guinness
Hey, we are getting beter! Expecting good things against Millwall tonight!
Like I say, its not just Guinness or Adnams that don't travel well. Loads of beers can taste funny over long distances, or if they are exposed to the wrong temperature. My tip is to enjoy beer on tap close to where it is brewed. If you are ever in the Norfolk Broads, try and find the Woodfordes brewery in Woodbastwick. It has a pub attached that does great food that goes really well with their beer. Just don't try and sail anywhere after a pint of Headcracker!
