Well it's not like I can claim any credit for all the hard work I'm doing  Note to those not signed up: once you've expended the few minutes it takes to set up the stuff on your machine you don't have to do anything else - it really is no pain, lots of gain. The reason I'm getting so many results is I've got a fairly powerful Linux box essentially doing nothing but protein folding 24x7. That might change in the new year as it's actually my MythTV box and to get it working properly I need to upgrade my aerial (I'm using Digital Terrestial Television rather than cable or satellite). Once I've got that done and I start to use it instead of my Tivo the amount of available CPU will drop. On the other hand I might build another box to use as a Myth development system and general Web access box - so I could actually end up adding another system in around March

Other programs?
I searched around a bit for other programs besides HIV and protein-folding, but I couldn't find any. Any ideas where to look? If we found something related to diabetes, I'm sure I could get my family to hook it up and do some good. Ben

I know. That's a hard sell though. It's all about marketing. And the more specific the computations, the easier it is to sell. So ... if anybody knows of other such sites / projects, I would really appreciate to hear about it. Thanks! Ben

Ben, there's Einstein@Home which is doing gravity wave analysis (that's what I'm doing) and SETI@Home just switched to BOINC, too.
